Sorry got carried away,

First one was the escort panel van, spade shaped arch inside and lots of shag pile carpet.
At 16 it was the business.

Cheers
Dave

Mine was '64 Austin-Healey Sprite but my 2nd was a '72 1300 Championship beetle,Marathon blue metallic, special 10 spoke wheels-even came with a VW flagpole attached to the passenger side front wheel arch! Again wish I still had that, always easier with hindsight.

My first car was the one in my avatar. It's a '74 Beetle. I remember the first time I drove it (my dad having driven it home from the people we bought it off of) I thought I'd made the biggest mistake. To learn to drive a manual car in a Beetle was horrible at the time, it's only now that I realise if I can drive that thing, I can drive almost anything.

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with it. As long as it's basically running I love it. As soon as something goes wrong, I start shouting expletives at it and threatening to smash windows.

Oddly though I find being up to my elbows in oil and engine muck quite satisfying as long as I enventually get the problem solved.

1963 Beetle in about 1973. The car looked great, but was worn out mechanically. It needed heaps of work. Despite this I stuck with VWs.

A red Ford Laser ???? I sold my 68 bug for a red ford laser. The damn thing was nothing but trouble .... smashed it 3 times, never had an accident before it and never had an accident again (wrote if off 9 years ago!)......

I learnt my lesson about red ford lasers !

Car 1. 1976 Galant wagon, got a sigma 2 litre, still a heap of crap though, got t boned and kissed it good bye. Don't miss it at all.

Car 2. Free 70 something Kombi 1800 auto. Owned it for 2 weeks till the rego ran out. Then gave it away. Really stuffed, held together by bog and prayers. Got it airborne a few times over speed humps.
😀

Car 3. Free Datson 180b auto. was going to rebuild it into a rally car. Got retrenched a week later, car went to the wreckers. oh well...still like 180Bs

Car 4. 1962 deluxe beetle, now the buggy.

Car 5. 1967 1300 beetle, had a mild 1640 and two tone paint. Sold it coz I didn't need it any more. Still miss it. 🙁

My first car was a Blue 1978 Leyland Mini S.

My Dad thought it would be a good idea as he was a Leyland freak and had a mini as his first.

It wasn't a bad car when the brakes worked. 😀

I had a mate who's first car was a 60something beetle. It had an unfortunate mishap and nearly ended it's life when he ran off the road and the beetle rolled backwards onto it's roof and down an enbankment. That car saved his life. (as well as the tree that stopped the car) 😉

I would like to get a beetle one of these days. They sound like a cool car. Unfortunately, I've never even had the chance to drive one yet.

ONE DAY!!! 😀

That's my bit for now. :blah
