I've suspected for some time now that my girlfriend has been having an affair. The usual signs. Phone rings, I answer, someone hangs up.
She started going out 'with the girls' a lot recently although when I ask which girls it is always "Just some friends from work, you don't know them".

I always look out for her taxi coming home but she always walks down the drive although I can hear a car setting off. As if she has got out of the car round the corner. Why? Is it not a taxi?

I once picked her mobile up just to see what time it was and she went beserk and screamed that I should never touch her phone again and why was I checking up on her.

Anyway, I have never approached the subject with my g/f. I think deep down I just didn't want to know the truth but last night she went out again and I decided to check on her.

I decided I was going to hide behind my beetle which would give me a view of the whole street so I could see which car she gets out of. It was whilst crouched behind my bug that I noticed rust around my rear wheel arch.

Should I take it into a body repair shop or should I buy some stuff from Auto One and try to repair it myself?

in situations like this its best to be straight, to the point and have all parties involved.
sit and spend a weekend fixing the problem, you may find that other problems are found and you can fix them too.
taking it to the repair shop just means you dont care
in the beginning, the universe was created.
this made alot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

You're probably best to sort it out right now, don't wait for things to get worse or try to put to the back of your mind. It's not a case that if you can't see it it 's not happening.Best to front up, pull out all the carpet, interior panels and get stuck in and you never know your girlfriends other bloke might even offer to give a hand!

Costa.....once the rust starts, the relationship is surely doomed. Oh yes you can repair the rust, but deep down you know the scarring exists under the surface. You could replace the panel for a newer one, but that too could rust in time if appropriate care is not taken. 😉.

You could go for a full trade in on a different model....or heaven forbid a whole new make....possibly a Brazillian perhaps?

If you find out the rust isn't to bad an angle grinder would help

If it has spread further a chainsaw would be more appropriate
and time to move to the next project

Use the GF's money to get the rust repaired properly, if the money runs out kindly tell her's it not working out anymore.
Hope the beetles like new again soon. :beer

Stop,
take a deep breath and think... what would Jared do???

Oops, sorry wrong country..... Me ahhh, that sort of thing just adds to the well loved and worn out feeling you get when you check out a body. But then again, doing some of the work yourself gives that, 'I've strayed a wee bit but he really does care and is tryign to fix it up' image a run doesn't it 🙂

Myself I'd say get a professional to do it, that way you can be out on the town while the work gets done and no one knows that it ever happened 😉
