I work for the department of fair trading here in Parramatta, the rules don't apply to ebay because it is an Auction. When you go to private car auctions you don't get the home number of the people selling the car, the Auctioneers act as a mediator between both parties. If you want an Auction then put it up for sale on Ebay, if not Post here with your details and Phone number.. it's the law. The moderators have a tuff enough time dealing with other stuff.. so don't get them in trouble because of your own problems.

Tim the point is that unlike thje trading post where sales are one off on the forum there is more interaction and more of a long going thing. This guy rang me and threatened me but was never interested in my for sale just got the number from there this would never hapen from advertising in the trading post . how is then that its " NO DIFFERENT THEN SELLING OVER THE TRADING POST.. I have had people call me at all hours to ask me what else I have thats not on the forum. Also I've had people call and ask for my address to have a look at what I'm selling. Then whilst here they say that they're not interested but insist on hassling me about what accesories I may have. Which is not only inpolite and time wasting but just plain moronic.
I think you should let everyone else know who threatened you with a baseball bat. They might have a problem with it, but I'm sure they're going to feel no worse than what you did when you were threatened. And I for one (since I use this place to sell all my VW stuff) would like to know if someone who is there looking at parts and getting peoples addys is likely to give me the same treatment.

Cam,I have no trouble saying that it was Crazy George he promised to visit me over christmas with his bat and more ( he would need one i guess)
. I offered him my address. He also sent me a couple of offensive U2Us ,This was all because I offered him $300 for a gearbox that was untested and not quaranteed he wanted $500 but had severeal times asked for interest.
At the time at which he did this I posted on his add that I would no longer enter into the argument. He then posted moronic opinions on a few of my for sales. I had those ads deleted. If you check his profile he appears to use the forum almost exclusively for braking VW and selling them in parts he posts nearly exclusively in For sales.
I did get a little sarcastic but did pull back ,make peace etc , and did nothing to warrent his response.

No i'm just basically sick of people complaining... then sticking something up for sale... then complaining again... i have posted a SHITLOAD of stuff on this forum and never and a problem with anyone.. in fact all great people.. why don't i get problems .. i dunno maybe good luck.
It is pure and simple .. if you don't want to post your number then stick on ebay.. its a good alternative and youll probably get better price for whatever your selling anyway. There's no arguement about it .. apparantly it's the law and we have to stick by this.. remember we have to respect our fellow human beings twoguns... it's called kharma

Its strange how some forums in OZ want you to ad phone numbers and other forums in oz tell you your post will be deleted if you ad a contact number.
The following rules for the Buy/Sell/Trade section are not open to debate and will be enforced by the Administrator/Moderators of the Newcastlelaps Forum.
Please use the following abbreviations when titling your thread, they will make life easier for both yourself and any people interested in your thread.
FS = For Sale
WTB = Wanted to Buy
Sold = Item has been sold (You should edit your thread to reflect this)
Found = The item has been purchased (as above, edit the title of your thread to reflect this)
An example would be:
FS: 17" 5 spoke Chrome Mag Wheels
To make your sale/purchase as simple as possible please include as much information as possible. If you have a picture of the item this will definitely increase your chances of sale or purchase because it will make it very clear to people what it is you are selling/wanting to buy/wanting to trade.
If selling please state the condition of the item. Is it showing signs of wear and tear? Is it as new? The more information the less chance of attracting time wasters.
Do not include your mobile number in your post, people can contact you via Private Message or email. Any mobile numbers posted will be deleted. (The same goes for home/work phone numbers).
If there are certain conditions regarding the purchase of goods please make sure you state it in your post. E.g. must be sold by a particular date.

The forum is too good a place for people with vee dubb interests...it's where we all come to share interests and have a joke with fellow dubbers...It would be a shame to see it spoilt by this

I have to say I agree with mitch and secoh. I dont like posting my phone number on the forum as it can be accessed by anyone in the world and it is archived for as long as this forum is online.
I have made lots of sales without posting my phone. I usually exchange phone numbers privately thru u2u if necessary. I dont think phone numbers should be compulsory. Maybe we could just make it ok if the seller adds "u2u me for phone number" or something like that.

heres a tip:
after the sale is completed remove ur phone number.
i put my phone number in search and found every old post that had it then erased it. at least that will stop it being archived a little bit.
i got sick of getting calls from people who had searched for my number on this forum.

I find exchanging phone number via u2u a better option once a sale has been made or being finalised...u2u ping pong can get frustrating...better to talk real time much quicker
...hmmmm was scene for screen a Freudian or dyslexia...nah scene doesn't make sense ... couldn't twist it to a dark n meaningful :duh

Hey, My Numbers there, below all the time, never had any probs, did have a few probs via email though, some threats etc, as i live in tassie i offered to buy him a one way ticket plane ticket to my place, seemed to do the trick!, most of the threats are from guys with very small dicks so they make up with there mouth, i am 6.3 (ask jen) and never get any probs, i dont go looking for it either
