done a bay allready, well i had a bay done allready
dave next you will be telling everyone to weld up their semaphore holes!
My 64 panel should hit the road sometime in the new year, I am making a start on it now and it seems to take me about 4 months to do a car, although a splitty Kombie has more bodywork so it may be a bit longer.
This is the Van I collected from Coober Pedy in August 2003.
I also have a 59 11window but it remains in limbo till I find a front donor as mine has a nasty whack to fix.
But thats at least one more splitty coming back on the road.

Weld up all holes including those silly ones in the roof, I think deluxes have them, waste of time really, how do you look through them when your driving.
Cheers

go herbie 4 months wow, i have taken nearly 2 years so far i thought it would take around 6 months little did i know ,but i have made many mods and only worked on it when i have some spare time and bought all parts that dont do anything but look nice so i guess its my fault.
Mine took 3 and a half years, anything under 1 year will be pushing it, unless you work on it full time, also depends on what type of resto you do
Cheers
Dave
I guess I am really tempting fate with talkin time scedules but it does revolve heavily around time availabe to spend.
Its the Nature of my business that leaves me with months at a time spare between movie productions, I do all my own work ussually, Because if you want something done right you have to do it yourself.{So I can only Blame myself for any stuff ups.}
Having said that I am pondering having someone else paint the kombie but it probably wont happen, because,
Today I'm thinking metallic Purple, mettalic Green and bright mettalic Silver with chrome Rav 4 rims, Lowered with custom chrome bumpers and lots of graphic airbrushwork.
This May take a little longer depending on how much energy I can muster up and I doubt paying someone for such a paint job will leave any funds for anything else.
I bought Herbie as an off road bug and kept him for a year while I collected all the parts I needed to fix him up.
But when I started it took me about 3 months to Git r dun.
Herbie was never to meant to be over the top anal in the finish as I planned to drive him to work each day, I learned years ago about going nuts on the paintwork and then getting stonechips dents and scratches from driving all the time, It breaks your heart. So I made him tidy but not crazy imaculate.
Its a much bigger project doing the kombie but it will be fun and the kombie is probably in better shape to start with.
Lets hope it all goes well.
