He doesn't know me, and I don't know him, and it was uncalled for, I also have relatives living in the next town from him, so it’s a small world.
(I WILL BE IN SYDNEY NEXT EASTER IF HE WANT’S TO REPEAT IT)
He wouldn't last 2 Seconds.
And that is the kind of thing that causes trouble. Some dick makes Stupid Comments when they shouldn’t, then someone wants to get even with them.

Do you not see the irony in this???????? :jesus :jesus :jesus

Thats an example, of what happens every day.
And I have a very very long memory.
BAJA NOW FITTED WITH A FULL FLYING REBUILD
Jen and Danny boy..
Don't worry about what he said, I went to 3 different Family functions and I was still on here on Christmas day.
I don't know where he gets of saying that.

BAJA NOW FITTED WITH A FULL FLYING REBUILD
I'm not too worried just annoyed that he is so ignorant and arrogant and he gets on here blowing his own trumpet.....I thought I'd share hoping that he reads..not only mine but other comments ...and has a think about what he says next time
Lokita it is sad that this is happening on the forum ... I usually have a comment which I hope is constructive not destructive...what he said is a good example of what we don't need on the forum...I tried to highlight the inaprropriatness of it
No my day was not totally empty...I did go out and have lunch with family....n partied the night before with son and his friends....I am lucky...and I could have chosen to read a book but I came onto the forum to catch up with what others had been doing with their day
Jennz and others I apologise to you all, I can admit when I have made a mistake, If you noticed the question marks after the comment I thought people would have seen It was not meant seriously, my sense of humour again???
I like most people do not like personal attacks, especially when it is obvious who it is meant for.and I got carried away.
But Jenz, you also did the same thing by calling me ignorant and arrogant????
And if I have something to say I will tell that person and not hide behind vauge remarks !
If I have something to say, I say it, it is my opinion and not meant to upset people.
Jenz I know who you are talking about regarding upsetting a certain person, I realised this about a month ago and sent her a few u2u's apologising and I am sure we are O.K. now.
For others, to show I have nothing to hide, I made what some thought were a few nasty comments regarding converted panel vans, It was my opinion that I did not like them, but a member on this site has one and I upset her.
The thing is I do not like them and why should I change my opinion just because someone doesnt agree with it?
Now for something that has been bothering me, how come the most views we have on posts are the ones that get deleted, is it because this is a forum and as far as I believe a forum is for discussing things.
It seems to me that most on here like a good argument.
It seems that way,
Edited bit
Just thought I would also add this,
Look at the amount of views my post looking for a fc holden had had, this is a VW site yet I have had 620 views, why is this, Are we bored with VW's and like to see other things?
This might explain why the other posts such as the drug one and the one started by Karmann ghia had so many views.
Can anyone explain this???
End of edit.
If we were all the same it would be really boring.
And to answer another comment made about me, yes I have done a split and I DO NOT have a go at people who have done other splits, If someone asks "what do you think of this" I will answer truthfuly, I will not say something just to keep people happy.
I just love to see splits on the road, I have given away a lot of parts to people who need them just to see splits on the road, ( including quite a few members of this site, who I have never met) mine is not perfect and I have NEVER said it is, it is done to my taste and I am happy with it.
I will continue to have a go at GUNNAS, these are people on this site who, when a person advertises some parts, they are always the first to say, Yes I will have some of them, and never do,.They also try and sell things at stupid prices, and also only post on the selling sections of this site and never contribute.
My rant over, but I will add another P.S and see if this gets me in trouble.
P.S.
to 62 deluxe, take a tip from someone who also has their own business, never put people down when you dont know who they are, they might have been potential customers,
Now you are a business, you will have to watch what you say and do as the VW scene is quite small,
Believe it or not, but this is not an attack but some helpful advice and no way got anything to do with your attack on me. see I can turn the other cheek.
Cheers
and still opinionated

sorry i can stir shit sometimes but humourous only, sorry i cant help my self
Each to their own 57kombi.
Don't worry about my business, it's fine, and I've never made any nasty comments about anyone or put anyone down on this forum, or anywhere else(or made any attacks!!) Check my posts if you like.
If you have your own business yourself then you should know better (read some of your comments!!!).
I made no attack at you nor anyone else (I didn't realise that you made the comment about the splitties- it just stuck in my mind but I didn't know who it was. It was not an attack, we are all entitled to our opinion as you say. If I'd known it was you who made that comment I'd have said, believe me!)
Lets all move on eh?

No one is asking you to change your opinions, maybe just don't confront people with them.
And yes sometimes I actually agree with your opinions.........😉

OK.......NOW move on LOL!:kiss

Bored?
Maybe we do all need a life? LOL
well this has all blown a bit out of proportion.
1)jenz i didnt start this thread to start a fight it was just an appeal because i dont want this forum to become a place where if something is said it wil start an argument no matter the topic.
2)57kombi is right in that people have personalitys and personal opinions and if they are different to others then thats ok as long as they dont try to preach them to you. if someone asks for an opinion of their new accessory on their bug u cant only expect to get positive replys but you shouldnt be put down because of your different tastes.
the main things that piss me off are alike to this example.
i posted an ad in the for sale section for an Audi A100. (yes not techinically a VW but pretty damn close), now this car is not mine and i did not have anything to do with the asking price i was simply posting an ad for a freind to try and help sell his car.
he bought the car not long before for more than he was asking to sell it for and had spent a couple of G's on it already so in his mind that price was what he wanted. now the first reply on this thread i created was by someone who wont be named warning people against the car because the price was too high and the market value was blah blah blah........now this is just not nice.....this is hindering the sale of someone elses property. it had nothing to with this person at all......they had no intention of buying the car, nor any interest in it they just wanted to hinder the sale. this post was later removed from the thread either buy the poster or by a moderator i am unsure which. the car is no longer for sale.
this is, in my opinion unacceptable.....i dont make the rules around here but that made me very angry and i snapped back at the person however i would not take it further.
my point is its things like this that make this forum less inviting everyone doesnt have to be nice and agree on everything thats not what forums are about......just be civil for gods sake.

I doubt if a moderator removed the post on that thread...maybe the poster had second thoughts??? I didn't hear anything
So far the forum areas are open for people to sell any type of car really...there was talk of having an area for selling other thing people want to get rid of...not sure if that is going to happen...but with some of the difficulties between seller and buyer sometime there may be second thoughts about it all getting out of hand

Exactly.......
Anyone who blocks a sale, or Post nasty Comments for no reason, must know they are going to get retaliation.
BAJA NOW FITTED WITH A FULL FLYING REBUILD
I always reckon it's usually better to ignore them...then there is no buzz for them 😎
p.s. ( 😀 ) but that can be hard to do sometimes
[Edited on 26-12-2004 by jenz58]
I agree with you both Anthiron and Jenz.
Well said.
Wise words of wisdom from Jenz again.........:thumb
Like you said though easier said than done sometimes😉
On Xmas day, I started reading a book (Da Vinci Code) knocked off a couple of bottles of wine and slept a lot.. On Boxing Day, I did the same thing (except finished the book.. utter shite!!)....
... Oh and on both days, I had a peek at the AVD forum.. I know.. I'm and alcoholic, drunken loser with a penchant for pulp fiction and VW's!!
My god... life is good (and I'm often thankful my relatives are all O'seas)
PS: Danny Boy.. the fridge is always open!!!
Sounds a couple of days well spent to me!! 😎
Oh.....the book title sounds interesting...what not much good?
I can never finish a shite book...they have to have me there.....Hmmmmm I am surrounded by so many unfinished books...walls of them ....maybe it's me short concentration span :duh
Well I read a lot of non fiction so I can put it down anytime 😎
No.. I often don't finish a shite book.. Its just there has been so much talk about this particular book, I felt duty bouind to see what all the fuss was about.. In fact I read mainly autobiographies and historic books.. My favs are early exploration (Cooks voyages) and early Aus/NZ Pacific society books.. What I find most fascinating is a small wooden boat can travel half way around the world and find a tiny island group (Tahiti) in the middle of the worlds largest ocean.. Couple that with the fact that it was largely unexplored and it was the late 1760's and you have a book that will beat any fiction novel..
What are you reading?
[Edited on 27-12-2004 by StenGuns]
a couple of things, I reckon if someone posts something in a for sale thread that isn't related to finding more about the sale, condition of the product, etc.. it should be deleted. You wouldn't ring up the trading post and complain about an ad would you?? So don't so it here. I think you might be better off u2uing someone you know who knows a bit about what you want to buy and asking them for their opinion rather that ruining someones FS thread. leave it as a LOCKED thread that can't be commented on.
Also StenGuns, you might like the book, "Holy Blood, Holy Grail". It's the non-fiction book that the speculation from the Da Vinci code was based on...
"Tell him 'We've already got one'"
Thanks.. I've heard of this and was going to grab it when I get on a plane next.. Isn't it a fictional account as well?

i think we should be more civil as well. and not take everything so personally, relax a bit!
A lot of the DaVinci code is fictitious... a lot of people have said its written more like a movie than a piece of literature. Dan Brown is a screenplay writer apparently?

It's a well researched book based around the priory of Sion, The templars knights, the grail story, mary magdalene etc... It's very interesting and you have to decide for yourself whether the research collected in the book counts as evidence or not but it's pretty convincing. It stirred up the religious world in a big way when it came out.
The da Vinci code is obviously a work of fiction but there is more truth in it than you might think.

It just occured to me what my signature says....

I read it all just to find out what all the fuss was about. I'm at bible college and people were talking about it abit. Didn't change my mind about anything I believe. Lots of the ideas are not new by any stretch. I have to say though, I quickly got tired of him delivering a history book full of supposed 'facts' per chapter, in the midst of trying to conduct a plot. I think most people could tell they were more than a bit exagerated.
That aside, it wasn't a bad read and I really wanted to finish it. Couldn't put it down. Dan Brown must be happy, even if he all his claims are bulldust, he's still made an absolute mint.
😉
OMG luv the Grail legends....was in a play once based on Parceval...the French version...was the story teller who set the scenes....fun
StenGuns Longditude was a fantastic book....I got really fancinated by it it...would luv to go to the Maritime Musuem in Grenwich sometime...spent a lot of time on their website
Went to Micronesia a few years back...always pick up local books of the country.....facinating stuff....pirates...sea trade...explorers...people jumping ship or being stranged...a few African slaves jumped for freedom....you look at the islanders and you can see their ancestry...big Japanese influence during WWII....get good bento....the islands have always been seperate cultures...but now they are recognising common ancestry and it has helped with independance in the Caroline Islands n what the call the Federated States of Micronesia...making it easier for them to see themselves part of the group rather than individual island cultures
Always pick up books on their culture, legends arts..etc etc...I'm a culture junky
Well...picked up another book on Egypt cos seriously wanting to go there in Feb or near enough to....dive n see some history n culture...always wanted to go...got a spoof travel guide Phaic Tan Sunstroke on a Shoestring a Jetlag Travel Guide by the guys from the Panel n Working Dog Santo, Tom n Rob Sitch ...yes I have attention deficite for sure...
