Hmm...I think they make the car look a little out of proporation but that's just one angle so I don't know, maybe if I saw the car side-on I wouldn't say that.

Can I keep it? 😉

It's not the best photo, nor the best angle, and there is no engine in it at the moment.
So it's sitting on the wrong camber!
When the engine is in, it sits with a nice squat and also it has a s/steel 21/2 in muffler which gives a fat appearance!

Oh well that is only my opinion. {The Toowoomba Look!}

Cheers !

No, I can see that. Little lower n the car would look hella tough 🙂

Wish I could get my car looking all tough like that but for now, I'll just have to do with the four normal guards with little dents in each of them and the bad paint job. 😀

I have seen worse.... but I personally like guards that have been widened, but You can't tell..... these are usually made from fibre glass ....
Some people seem to make the wide guards with the widened bit at a different radius so You can tell they are wide....

Anyway, its not what I think that matters...

Car looks good...

saw those guards on a car round my area a few years back. a 1500 beetle I think. it was dumped on skinnies at the front with standard guards and on the back it had those guards with great big fat tyres under them. looked awesome, sounded fat too, a real classic muscle car look. 😎

Craig has asked a question. Do you think these are ugly. As he has ASKED for a point of view to be expressed the answers he recieves will be mixed which is what i think he's after.
A little different to saying "hey look at my new guards , what do you think" and folk being harsh about his choice. Cars are personal things and what i like others hate. Aslong as you like them thats all that matters , otherwise we'd all be driving around in bugs looking the same

Look good if the cars got the rims to match , my 2 cents.

i think theyre okay as long as the rest of the car matches, and there is suitable amount of chrome and rubber underneath them.

good for the german look, but prefer straight flares and aeros.
i might be pickin up a set for the rear for my superbug, hopefully before the paint job

They look pretty nice to me. I think the only ugly VW guards are ones with Torana lights in them, or maybe really over lipped/rolled ones...

Seeing you have asked for comments,
I dont like beetles, I am into splits, but that said, I think they look good, also it looks better without the normal bumper and with the t bars you have fitted.

Cheers

looks good, but i would have gone for the elephant foot lights. looks more proportioned
in the beginning, the universe was created.
this made alot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

ideas about flared guards in 1970, admittedly i dont like them but

which looks the part

Hi Starbuggy

Are the Elephant tail lights that you refer to the S/bug lights?
My Bugs a 68 and I just used what the car came with!
The photo above was taken with a dirty old kodak , and I think that together with the angle distorts the shape alittle!

Well that's my excuse anyway. Also had it detailed today by Dave Ellis.(waxit.com.au) Check out his site!
Looks much better! 😉

I don't like plastic much myself, however these guards do look good - especially if they are filled with tyre. I don't mind the aero look either, but Torana and Porraga......:puke:puke

Squiz......
