I might just note that it took a few attempts for the 4WD to pull him out of there - the track (where the 4WD was) was very slippery!

Last one for now...
I know that I am going to be killed for posting that last series of pics so I might as will finish myself off properly!
This was the result of the last pic - it was the only time all day that the car stopped and dispite having just landed in a giant mud puddle, it turned out to be a temp sensitive condensor that didn't like the sudden change from hot to cold that caused it to stop, not water in the dissy as many of us suspected.

Wow. I've met some people around with bajas who claim to be off roaders then turn out to be pussies, you guys are the real deal!
...I've lots more pics of Tim and Dave mucking about off road, but these were the most 'visually effective'. No point in having an off road vehicle if your not going to use it off the road! I have set a date to have mine finished - Easter...nothing is going to stop me now (...well, a lack of cash may slow me done but....)
My pan is going off to COR tomorrow to have the IRS conversion done (don't tell Dave or I will never hear the end of it!), and the body is heading to the bead blasters next week to blow holes everywhere....er....I mean strip the paint off :duh I currently have the body on its side so that I could get to a couple of pin holes in the sill on the drivers side - when I hit the area with the wire wheel, about 2 dozen other hole appeared....grrrrr. As you can also see, I have welded a 'new' arse end on the body so that I can cut it back off in a better location. The idea here is to try to shield the engine from flying rocks and stuff as much as possible
I'm busting to get this done - I want to see what all this money I have spent will create!!
Heres my Garage at the moment.... (angle parking?) :thumb

Was that the Dave took Kath around the buggy bash and stopped?
I told Kath it was her fault it stopped has it never stopped all day until she got in the car LOL.

Yeah, that was the run that Dave did with Kath at the Buggy Bash! It wasn't Kaths fault :thumb, just a dodgy, heat sensitive, condensor which was replaced the following day - no further problems (relating to the condensor) since. Just unlucky I suppose!

very cool. There's some nice air time there aswell.
I wish I was still in Brisbane, I'd be out with you guys in a second :thumb
Still, there's plenty of places here for me to go off road, just no other bajas to go with🙁
hey beaker speak to mattie182 on here he is in rocky and is aways gettin all the bajas and buggys togeather for some off road action.... he will be able to give you you fix i am sure :thumb
steff...................................
Life with out a v-dub is no life at all!!!!!
Hay come on ross thats not what we build offroaders for i would never think off getting my new baja dirty or the old one for that matter Ha ha ha ha ha now thats funny if there was anyone that wasnt scared of getting it out and dirty it would be me. so are you going to have it ready for fraser at easter if you are that means i should have mine ready cause were about the same stage by the pics and how much was the body blasting cost i want to get mine done to see how many holes they can blow in it
You only need two tools
Wd40 if it don't move and it should

Hi Kathy, I'm well thanks - how's you?
Tim, whats that about not getting your Baja dirty? I don't think I have ever seen it without a 'measurable depth' of mud stuck to it...in fact I'm not even sure that I would know what colour the paint is :P
I was quoted $450 to bead blast the body if I supplied it completely stripped...should take about a week...I will know more next week hopefully. I know that this process will open up more rust holes (better now than after I paint it), but I'm just a little concerned just how many and how big the holes will be 😠
I'm looking forward to seeing those pics from your Frazer trip - Dave tells me that there are some good ones in there....
I'm hoping that my Baja will be finished in time for Easter (when you are planning on heading to Frazer again), however I won't be able to come with you as I will have to run in the engine (something best NOT done on the sand), and I have already booked flights to Sydney to attend the Nationals....perhaps next time.

I thought I'd resurrect this one again. I found these pics when I was cleaning up my computer I forgot I had. I've posted them before but that was at least 2 years ago.

I've bought a magazine article off Ebay about three manxes that did the Simpson trip in 1972......just waiting for in the arrive....should be a good read.
When are you doing the Simpson? Is it with KlubVW Offroad?
