3 days ago I went out to take Boris for a spin, open the door and the whole interior is a maze of spiderwebs (must've happened overnight) so I freaked out and decided not to drive him. The next morning I get my little brother who ISNT arachnophobic to clear out the car and what does he find? A freaking huntsman the size of my fist (big hands!) taking up residence in Boris. The deathblow missed so for the past 3 days I've had a hunstman hiding in my car and I'm too shitscared to drive it. We tried fumugating Boris with mortein but there's no dead spiders yet so theres no way I'm getting in! Has anyone got any tips on removing these lovely animals from cars? If it jumped out at me while I'm driving, I'd crash and probably kill myself! Please someone help! If you can't already tell I'm arachnophobic.

Would there be any vents etc. that I could close up to stop them from entering? I remember seeing the demister vents above the dash covered in webs so possibly it came in through there?

If I can't get someone to kill it tonight I guess the professionals will have to do it. Anyone had any experience with this?

Sorry, can't help but I know what you're saying, I once practically drove my buggy from outside the car after a huntsman crawled out from under the dash, left foot on the accelerator bum on the side of the car trying to figure out what to do next!!! Hey how about throwing a cat in there, our old one used to chase and eat huntsmen.

Put a few frogs and maybe a bird or two in there!

Or a bigger spider!

I had a big fat huntsman in my bug. I didn't care but it freaked my girlfirend right out. She wouldn't go near the car till I got it out. I just looked around till I could see it then poked it with a ruler and it ran out and I whacked it in a jar and threw it in the garden. They don't bite you but it's a weird feeling to touch them...

Wanna bet! Hurts too.

And like all spider bites the risk of infection from them is pretty high.

I've been bitten (twice) by a redback too (night in intensive care). While the Huntsman isn't as painful I sure as hell wouldn't want another bite from either!

oooo

i remember when my friend who was a mechanic fixed my car, and his friendly family huntsmen jumped in for the ride....

and dropped on my whilst i was driving...freaked me right out...

anyway, i kept driving (what else can u do in sydney peak hour traffic) and eventually it came out again..

well i musssshed him real good and threw him out my window...

about a week later my friend was telling me how no one in the family had seen this huntsmen, and how weird it was since it had been at their house for about a year.....each night this thing would weave a web, adn each morning it would hide under the gutter....

apparently the family had come to think of it as one of their own pets.

never had the heart to tell him i mussshed it up real good, and that it now sits in gymea....on a road, rotting away

I had a huntsman walk across the ceiling from my window to the passengers while driving one morning.

Another time, this time at night, I started the car and switched on the lights to find a huntsman covering the entire area of the speedo.

Solution: I set one of those roach bomb spray cans overnight inside the car, haven’t had the problem since.

Every Toyota my family has ever owned (5 or six I guess) has come with a spider from the factory 🙂

Worst was the one hiding under the fule flap, that gave me a fright when I opened it.....

NEver had a huntsman though..... nasty.

Hunstman city at my place.
We stayed at a c'van park at South West Rocks once and when we came home from tea the bathroom ceiling was covered in literaly hundreds of what looked like baby huntsman spiders about the size of your little finger nail. Hit em with the mortein and they all started abseiling down from the ceiling and we ended up with heaps of dead spiders suspended from the ceiling. Freaky.Had an indoor plant at home with a nest in it and a similar thing happened when they all hatched.

ive had geckos, frogs and a small bird (must have been looking around...) but never a spider.

get your non-arachnophobic brother to have a look around and poke it out with a stick.
my sis is extremely arachnophobic and she had a small huntsman in her car the other day... and i just poked it out with my finger.
in the beginning, the universe was created.
this made alot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

the biggest problem with spider bites is the parasites that live around their fangs, they can produce some very serious problems... such as your skin eating away a few mm each week until CHOP off comes your limb. White tail spiders and wolf spiders are the biggest culprits for these parasites. I had a daddy long legs in the house once, freaked me out so i smashed it's brains in with my wifes pillow.
