Ok heres the update. As some of you are aware we are in the process of setting up a club dedicated to the Kombi whether it be Split, Bay, T25, T4, T5, etc Having spoken to a few people around Aus it seems it is possible to make this Australia wide having branches in or near every region. This is intended as being very laid back, in true kombi fashion. news letters, drive outs drive ins and drive throughs, camp outs, tours, help from other type 2 fanatics, meets etc. eventually even 'buses with attitude' style of race meets This will be run on similar lines as the Split Screen Van Club in the UK, I have been in contact with them and they have offered advice. Hopefully we will be complementing existing clubs and increasing numbers at events We will never shut out other VeeDubs, they are more than welcome to participate If this takes off, no matter where you go in Aus, you will meet other members. First ive heard of a split club???
Also the Kombi club is for all, bays etc so this dsk wouldnt really fit.

you could have Kombi club and each state have it's own sticker
Kombi club S.A and so on
but sort of like the gfk stickers for each country

Roy the Kombi Club has in reality received the least amount of knocks and I'm for it as the name/title GO KOMBI KLUB. :bounce

There can be state chapters but still it is an Australian based klub.

Also I think the first S.A. meet should be at my place, and bring a brush as the shed floor needs painting

Ok Dave to make it easier for you.

Having discussed the name with the many non-AVD members and judging by feedback the guys and gals here, the name shall be ......

Kombi Van Club - Australia

Mainly coz its short and simple, everyone knows what a kombi is and the 'Van' just fills in a space. The name pretty much encompasses any model and year

We will be running in the true spirit of the Kombi, nice and relaxed, freindly and open to all.

The club will be for anyone with a passion for kombis whether you have one on the road, in pieces or only as a pipedream.

Help from other members will be a great benefit and we are already looking at other benefits as members.

As already mentioned we intend to make this Australia wide, definately not to poach members from other clubs, but to increase attendance and show that VW's are here to stay.

Stickers are already in the pipeline and we are looking for someone to design a few T-shirts.

We will be starting work on the 1st newsletter, so we need your stories, photos, restoration pics, holiday stories, your first VW, anything that might be of interest.
Believe me no matter how insignificant you think your story is it may be inspiration to someone out there.

2006 is going to be another Valla year isn't it? If so that would be a good opportunity to party. Not that there is any extra need for party spirit there.

As for the name I think if the "Van" bit was dropped every one would fit under that umbrella. I read people calling their twincabs and SCc buses regularly. It is the front of the bus that gets instant recognition imho.

ROY PLEEEAAAASE DROP THE VAN MAN!!
CAN'T STAND IT! Reminds me of a transit van -a bread van and worst of all -CARAVAAAAN*%#*%#. KOMBI CLUB is great ,but please don't add VAN!!! This is an eleventh hour bid -Please drop that V-word and I'm sure that many more kombi folk will come forth in droves to be a part of the Kombi Klub.

on this one,maybe the van bit is like The Split Screen Van Club in the U.K. and I recon it puts out the ute owners although they are still Kombi.

kombi club or kombi klub.... tho... thinking about it kombi club australia is likley to stand the test of time better than the slightly citch KK.

who would get pissed off is van was dropped......they`re all still kombi`s...but a ute is not a van...look truth be told, i dont give a rats what the name is, as long as its not a descripton of something that i dont have, "a van".
