Many years ago a bloke named Gow kicked off a VW forum. The first & only one in Australia. From memory I'm one of the original dozen members.
Now, after all these years, there is a section of THIS forum that I need YOUR express permission to enter!

The dictionary meaning of Forum is " a public place...., an open discission."
I don't know how many young members we have, but if a section is created that procludes just one, it's one too many & we cease to be a forum.
"MEMBERS ONLY" is a club, not a forum.
We thrashed out rules a couple of years ago.
They are reasonable rules, a lot simpler than they were going to be, but clear.
Sail too close to the wind, you'll be deleted, continue to do so, you'll be banned.
So why this defeatist attitude now, to create what equates to an "R" rated section?
While on the subject of the rules, let me draw your attention to paragraph 3, about mid way through;

The Vw forum was fine every one stayed faily civil and talked about VW and stuff thats why i joined and joined in as well as trade in cars etc
but now u give the low lifes a place to bag the ones who make the forum work and good info but its now filling up with crap maybe i just get out of VW all together and go back to real people clubs where i dont have to see baggers taking up air and space

Posts directly "bagging" other people, or their rides, tend to disappear pretty quickly.
Discussions, or even full fledged arguements, on the other hand, are entirely different.
That IS what makes it a forum.
It's not a secret that Andrew & I are not on each others Christmas card list.
I don't think he takes it personally, & I stopped worrying about whether people liked me when I was 12.

It is discrimination, & for that reason it is a bad move & it has the potential to become a dangerous move.
It's only going to take one of the younger members to take issue with it, & we run the risk of the entire forum being shut down.
I don't think we should be willing to bet that.

"bad attitude" is about as open as it can be without being a target for the easily offended. come on. It's simple: it's an area of the forum you can go if you want, but an area of the forum you can't decide to be a bitch about being given a serve, or getting into a heated argument. which, interestingly enough hasn't really happened yet.. although rudeness levels are high :thumb

I thought this was a VW forum.
Where does "Bad Attitude" fit in. Frankly I don't think it does. I have been in and read threads in there and I don't think it adds anything to this forum. It detracts from it and the people assosciated with it. Unfortunately I'm associated with the forum, so it makes me look bad.
I guess you have officialy divided the forum.
If you want to talk about willies, pubic hair other childish stuff goto one of the millions of forums already talkig about that crap. This forum "AussieVeeDubbers" should be left VW related.

it is vw-related. we're all vw freaks, talking crap. no problem.:blah topics are posted and leave the viewing area depending upon how many people want to see them remain (by posting), the common thread being that we're all one big sticky gleaming vw family. it's gonna be hard to start setting rules for what topics may and may not be discussed: there are many specialised forum sections already; this one's just open slather.
I don't see it as reflecting badly on the aussie veedub scene, just on the people who use it, and choose to view it 😎

i got a bit fed up with bad attitude threads taking up 1/2 my topic activity page so i just deleted cookies and logged into AVD again and its all gone.
i can log back in to that section if i feel like seeing whats going on in there later on if i get bored.

Isn't this "discrimination" the same as ratings on TV and movies? M-ratings, R-ratings etc? I could even go so far as to say it's like the legal drinking age is 18 to protect the youngens. But this is perhaps mental heath as opposed to physical health...

I admit I am in the bad attitude forum a bit. I feel in there I am not wasting anyones time or stepping on anyones toes if I let go a bit. It is harder for a moderator to let loose in other sections.
It is like the 'Tomorrow people' and 'People of the here and now' threads. A lot of people ignore them and don't post there. It is a smaller group of people talking crap, and not the whole forum community wants to be in there.
I feel some people may get frustrated if bad attitude was gone, but I cannot see anyone getting frustrated if it stays.
If you are under 18 then that is a fact of life like no drinking, no smoking laws.

I have seen far less bagging going on in there than out here!If you have been on the forum for some time you will clearly see that NOT all topics are VW related. People posts pics of their kids/partners/weddings/pets etc etc. The VW community has become like a family and people share each others lifes. It is a shame that you feel that you have to leave the VW scene, but I can assure you that ANY car clubs will have their idiosyncraices (oops, can't spell this word !!!). The Bad attitude forum is for people to let off some steam, it's like having a conversation when the kids are in bed. There are a number of sections on this forum that I am not interested in but I don't winge about it, I simply don't go in there. If the bad attitude forum upsets you or you find it offensive then maybe you should not go in there ?

As I've said, someone joining up now, today cannot, & should not complain about something that is already here.
"Existing" is the magic word.
When the status quo is altered to purposely exclude some of the existing members, that's a different matter.
But to compare it to the legal age of drinking. If they put it back up to 21 next week, there would be an outcry that could bring down a government.
There was talk of raising the age of driving in NSW not long ago, but the instant backlash had Carr in a panic, & he knocked it on the head.
Hellbus, there is a vast difference between not bothering & not being allowed.

if you want to let off steam go to a web site that lets you do that if your over 18 thats what there for not VW forum
Ive been in many clubs over the years from Mustang owners to one of the original SA street machiners and they were all for the family not the ..B....A...... you know what fits there
so get back the family forum and user freindly site to the Moderators they made a big mistake with this
