Dyno Day VW Club of Victoria- 30th July

Be there... New Date 30th July ...at Australian Volkswagen Performance Centre, 10/25-35 Luscher Rd Croydon The gates will open at 9 am to register...the Dyno will start up at 10 am....first in first up $35 per car for VWCV Members $45 per car non VWCV club members There will be a second computer outside of the dyno area for people to watch...and printouts of performance will be given for each run on the dyno There will also be a bit of a car show out the front of AVWPC Sausage Sizzle provided by VWCV & Trophies from AVWPC OK some facts for those like me that don't know a lot about them A dynamometer or "dyno" for short is a device used to measure power and torque produced by an engine. The concept is to use a dyno to measure and compare power transfer at different points on a vehicle, thus allowing the engine or drivetrain to be modified to get more efficient power transfer. The dynamometer applies various loads on the engine and measures the engine's ability to move the load. The dynamometer is connected to a computer which uses math to calculate the output of the engine. The engine is run from idle to its maximum RPM and the output is measured and plotted on a graph. Nearly all aspects of engine operation are measured during a dyno run. The type of Dyno we are using is a chassis dynamometer measuring power from the engine through the wheels. The vehicle is parked on rollers which the car then turns and the output is measured. Was a great Dyno day with a good turn out. Heres a few pics. Jen will be posting the results.

My T34 was not the biggest HP for the day. That prize went to a very nice Beetle with 2.4ltr Type 1 motor. Man that engine could crank. Last pic this post was the winner. ( I think, was the best reading before I left anyway)

My poor little car was an embarassment! I'm off to work on him today. Dean, your car is awesome! Thanks for organising anopther great event to all the people that helped! I hope it's on again next year so I can make my triumphant return:P

A pic of my car vs. a stock 71 Super. Check the height difference! He got just over 50HP out of it on the dyno though. Put me to shame.

Jen & the VW club Vic get all the gongs for organising this Dyno Day. Was a great turn out.

Can some one post the results for the day. Mick was writing them all down by rego number.

The DKP Beetle got 110HP from memory. Was running outta fuel from either pump or too small a fuel lines. So I reckon shes got quiet a few more horses waiting to get out. Very nice engine.👍
