Well sometimes things get worse. The lease we signed three months ago, was not signed by the owner, as such we are on a week to week tenency. As far as that goe's I think if the buyer that looked at it yesterday decides they want it and we have to get out, we are only entitled to 21 days notice. The preschool that Jodie works at has been put on the market, and there is no guarentee that she will be able to keep her job.
Im feeling a little bit pissed off cause I have been very good to the owners of both house's I have lived in. I have never called them out for any maintenence jobs, I have changed tap washers and the like fixed fences, cleaned up overgrown yards (one took me two months and countless trips to the tip) fixed broken cupboards and countless other things. After 5 years in this place and four in the previous place, and doing the best I can to help the owners out, both times I have been treated like this. The next place I go to, the slightest thing that goes wrong, Ill be calling the property managers to get someone else out to fix it. and Ill be only maintaining the "current" condition of the yard.

hope it works out for you rob, I had that happen once in a rental. The worst part is the feeling of limbo you are left in. It seems all to easy nowadays for investors landlords, estate agents etc to forget there are real people, especially families on the other end of the 'lease'. A tenancy agreement becomes a 'commodity' adding value to the property, disposable once the house is sold, regardless of how much you helped them sell. I tell ya....i get sick of seeing these dickheads who rent a house and trash it while the owner looks on while not being able to do anything about it.
I watch these arseholes on a current affair etc and I feel like going around there and sorting the pricks out.
Rob your landlord should feel happy and lucky to have people in their house that treats it like their own.
We had the lady from the Real estate come and do a check up on the house we are renting, because we are moving out obviously, and she spun out at how well we keep the place. Well we do have to live in it.
We managed to find a house under 300K, but have a look at what we have had to do in the first week of owning it. Bear in mind we only picked up the keys on the 6th.

Ripped up all the carpet hoping to polish the floors, but they were utility boards. About as good as packing crates. Few were rotted and had borers in the past. I even had to replace some.
We went the Boral "Silkwood" floating floor option. As close to a real wooden floor as you can get.
My knees are killing me tonight.
This is one of the three rooms we finished so far. One room and a hallway to go.
The first step was to level the house, then get some flooring in for us to put all our crap on, then we will do the walls at our leasure.
The floors have come up perfect. No waiting for laquer to dry.
There are a few cracks after the restumping.
The next step after we move everything in is to build 6 car garage in the huge back yard.

I think you may find that you haev a better deal if they want you to move out. I know up here if I am on a periodic lease (month to month and so on) I can give two weeks notice but they have to give me two months notice to kick me out. Not sure what NSW has, but thats what the real Estate Agent told me up here when my landlords took over the lease.

Same rules for me. The prospective buyers decided against the sale. So I am now on a week to week rental, with 60 days notice. I spose in one respect it has given me a bit of a shock and I now realise I have to do some serious saving to get my own place!

The floors look great, and I can definately visualise the six car shed in the back yard although I think you may be a tad conservative in the potential final size, I recon you could get a twelve car shed in no worrys with mezzanine level and maybe a few more upstairs. You just put a 4 poster hoist in and use that to get the cars up to the second level, that brings the potential car capacity up to mabe 15 or so!
