If I want something I ring for the price, that way I know what I am getting and know the price is for exactly what I want.
There are 1000's of prices in my system, I am not gonna spend all night putting them on here just to have it deleted 5 minutes later because I used the wrong phrase.
Our forum is not really designed to take 1000's of items for sale in an automatic fashion. We created those sections so people could buy, sell, trade and swap for things they might have lying around their garage without paying any fees, not to be eBay.
As we provide the existing sections as a free service, our rules, which we have had for some considerable time, specify that all listings have listed prices, which must include GST when it is required to be paid.
We do this for several reasons:
a) to make sure all sellers are on an equal footing
b) to comply with various laws which apply to the sale of some types of items, particularly the sale of whole cars by commercial sellers
c) It is too hard for us to determine who has to provide a price, and who may optionally supply it.
d) I believe most of our members like having the prices easily available
Therefore we decided a long time ago to require the listing of a price on all items which are sold.
There are no items on eBay without a price. There are no items in the Trading Post without a price. The same goes here - as this is how we run the place. All listings in our existing Buying and Selling sections need to comply with the rules, which are at the top of each page in that section.
As part of our forthcoming sponsorship changes coming very soon (just after we move servers, actually), as Brad mentioned before there will be additional flexibility coming for sponsors, but until then, our free listing services are there for people and businesses to use as long as they follow the rules.
