I changed the oil before it got nicked. Mechanically it all seems fine, dont think it even got driven far. It's got a few scratches and dents that it didnt have before, nothing major but bloody annoying.
They removed the wheel trims and venetian probably to make it look different then left these items in the car.
They pinched the rego papers in the glovebox and not much else. Weird. The paint looks like shit, the rear bumper is bent in a bit now and they parked it under some sap dripping tree.
No signs of ignition or door lock damage. We just put the key in it and drove it home. Still had half a tank of juice??
(a valueable item itself these days)
The front number plate was literally ripped off in a rage and they gouged the bonnet with something doing it.
It was left parked neatly all weekend in the car park of Windsor golf club. They didnt have it long, what the fuck did they pinch this car for? Now its back and not wrecked its great news but this is a mystery......
" You're not a team player "
How very bizzare!
Still, count your lucky stars!👍

Maybe they really wanted a GOLF, not a Beetle!!!
Glad it turned up
🙂
try giving Paul at
http://www.klampit.com.au a call ... in fact if anyone want's a clamp U2U me and I'll get 'em at a cheaper rate as he's a mate, and drives a big yellow T4. Learned my lesson recently, but then I didn't get the Commode back (shame). Buying a clamp is cheaper than the excess most of the time...
Good to see it all ended well. Hope Shannons do the right thing now.
Loves a lolcat
Suzii so glad your sweet beetle was found...
Were all the bits they took off in the luggage bay? I hope so.... damn these people who do stuff like this
I hope your insurance covers the fixing up of things damaged
great to hear it was recovered🙂
Jon
great news Suzii , now is the time to purchase that Rattle-snake that you have been thinking about and leave it in the beetle . That may deter them next time !!

Cool that you got it back, bummer about the damage, but at least ti wasn't/isn't too bad. Just remember that you can open your car door with an old VW key that is similar to yours as the cylinders get older they get sloppy. Not sure if you can start another car, but I know I opened someone elses car at Uni for a joke (in front of them of course).
maybe the wheel clamp and a lock adjustment are needed?
'Ah, whatever................'
great news .....
maybe they changed the plates so they could use the car in a bank robbery hehehehe lol
best news ive herd all day
As a cheap safety device i have a locking engine lid and take the rotor button with me.
Not many thieves carry a selection of rotors with them 🤪
Futue te ipsum!!!
Thanks guys and gals - now down to the nitty gritty.
Where should I take it to get it fixed.
It needs both mechanical and body repairs.
Who is closest to you ??? or where did u take it before
Will it be covered by insurance ???
Have never taken it to anyone before.
It should be covered by insurance, have spoken to Shannons and they said to choose a repairer and get a quote.
They will send out their assessor after they receive the quote.

Please, I need drivers side window regulator (winder mechanism) for my '54
Good to hear you got it back.
with all that damage, it's time for a a new paint job and a 2332 with EFI and turbo...sorry got a bit carried away again. 🤓
suzii good news ,to answer the question why?..bugs are easy to steal..60's models don't need a lot of brain power to steal....i had a 60's kombi that was stolen several years ago in similar circumstances..it ended up at blacktown train station....i figured some one needed a ride to a train station and the bus/bug were easy to knock off...maybe they were running late for a game of golf..missed a lift..look at the funnier side..they knew it would be reliable and they would get there with out too much attention..cheers steve
