did my tappets today.

all were fine bar #2 cylinder inlet which was at .008 instead of .006 however i cant adjust the thing cause the adjuster screw is stuck in the lock nut and i cant turn it without turning the nut.

can i totally unscrew the thing and soak it in something to loosen it up?

Be rough....unscrew the whole thing from the rocker gear and hold the screwdriver end with some vice grips and a spanner on the nut.If it breaks get a replacement as it was stuffed anyway...use ya muscles man😂😂😂😘

What "being stuck" would indicate is that the threads are stretched in the nut.I highly doubt it will break as i have done it this way many times. It generally means you should relace the shaft and nut at the next service, they are cheap enough. Soak it in WD40 or similar first or give it some heat first. Then use your muscles. There won't be much stopping it from moving...:thumb

:bounce post them up! He IS excited, i have slowly been getting rid of the tiewire and strange bits and homemade trash. My theory is 'work from the ground up', you see as far as i am concerned all the 'go and stop' bits take priority over the stuff like body rust and windows etc. Bahhh, window winders etc, who needs em.. actually, once I have done the rounds with new tyres ($$$) I can start tidying up the body... He has decided enough is enough I am to stop neglecting him, he told me it's his time now, If he can go without the necessities for so long,, so can I 😉 😂 actually i think he was getting pissed at being the butt of all manner of jokes and abuse, decided to become a reculse for a while till he got his shit together :P
