I'm wanting to get my Teledials sandblasted so I can polish them. :P
Would there be some kind being out there with a good set of Porsche stud pattern wheels that they'd be willing to let me borrow for a fortnight or so while this is being done? Or even if you just have 2 wheels and would let me borrow them for a bit longer to do a pair of mine at a time.

Ideally in the Melb area so I could pick them up and donate a slab of something thirst-worthy.... :thumb

I would have thought sandblasting them might make the job a bit harder, as it doesn't leave a nice smooth finish to work with for polishing...
Wouldn't you be better off just "wet sanding" the current finish/coating off them, (unless of course it's chrome, in which case you don't have much option), but the rough surface that blasting leaves will need to be sanded smooth before they can be polished...
Just a thought, good luck...
I hate to admit it, but man, I think you're right....

Tyres aren't really a problem.... as I'll need to remove the ones I have on to get my wheels sandblasted, so they could go on the borrowed rims. Make sense? :P

I tried wet sanding a spare teledial rim that was crooked (it's the guinea pig so I know how my 4 will turn out), and it took forever to get the paint off, and even longer to try getting the undercoat off. My bf ended up getting it sandblasted and afterwards he sanded a section, and it came up alright. I'm going to finish it off and then polish it, so it'll give me an idea of how long mine will take!

I was wet-sanding using thinners, still took forever, and that was just for the paint. The undercoat is stubborn as all #&^% !

get some paint stripper from supercheap, some dishwashing gloves, and a $2 paint brush
slap the stripper on, cover with a garbage bag, wait 20-30 mins, pull the bag off, and if u have a gerni - blast them.. if not, use a paint scraper, to get all the bubbled paint off, then hose it down with water, to neutralise the acid
and u'll have 95% bare metal HEAPS easier to wetsand.. and easier than a sandblasted surface

Is this tried and true?? Will it get rid of the stubborn undercoat too? If so, it could be worth a go... thanx! :P
