And before you say it DC... it is Aussie hip-hop, not crappy yank rap... so therefore I am not contradicting myself in any way! :P

my dad has got me hooked on cat stevens, U2, R.E.M, Ed Kuepper, AC/DC
but the best album would have to be blink 182, i am so hooked on this band and so cut they broke up! anuva band would have to be U2!!!
Air Moon Safari , not just for the cool Split kombi/space shuttle in the inlay card but this did sway the vote a little
Rammstein (Just for Cam) coz its German and if you drive a slammed black veedub you gotta have german heavy metal thumpin out of it ,coz looks tuff!
Gorillaz , yes coz it has a manx on the cover...
Sound track to Dazed and confused (esp lowrider) but fits the era of car and is cool
"If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you." - Anonymous 🥷
I can believe I agree with DC but..
Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
Talking "ahead of it's time" this album appeared in 1973 and (correct me if I'm wrong) spent 30+ years in the charts!
In the old(ish) days, quadrophonic hifi was the state of the art. Put on Floyd. Turn out the lights. light the J and lie down in the centre of the room with a quad HiFi setup.. Talk about journey!
hmm stenguns glad to hear im not the only one that used to listen to albums
that way, every now & again i would do this now but with 2 teenagers roaming
around the house & bagging their dad over the way i listen to music its getting harder.

Wally.. They are but memories mate! Revive them (Joint optional). My eldest son (16) is so into Led Zep, Bowie, Floyd, Santana you name it! We have the most incredible sessions together.. Nothing like loading the CD stacker in the car and driving somewhere.. before you know it people are staring at the two of us in the car while we play air drums and go crazy! Ahhhh Led Zep.. Its better than prozac!

Dirty deeds or Back in Black -ACDC

Secret World or Us - Peter Gabriel
Rage against the Machine - Rage against the Machine
Audioslave - Audioslave
Brandenburg Concertos or Cello Suites - JS Bach
Kind of blue - Miles Davis
Elixor - Elixor
Harvest - Neil Young
Rust in peace - Megadeth
Giant Steps - John Coltrane
but I think probably at the top or very near is...
Brothers in Arms - Dire Straits
Sorry, but music is like good food. So many textures and flavours, you wouldn't want to limit yourself to just one or two. 🙅
Oh sorry, I forgot "why".
Brothers In Arms has almost everything from stomping Rock to brooding ballads and almost everything in between. It revolutionised a lot of modern music and has an A list of perfomers on it from Sting on Vocals to the Brecker brother on Trumpet and Sax. However, the jewel in the crown from my point of view are the gravelly vocals and swooning guitar of Mark Knopfler. For man who can't sing, he does an amazing impression of beautiful music. :thumb

Equal First:
"Nothings Shocking" and "Ritual de lo Habitual" - Janes' Addiction.
Why:
An unbelievable mix of folk, rock, thrash, acoustic and instrumental. Janes' caused the Grammys to introduce a "Best New Alternative" award, as they were the first independent label band to go Platinum in the US with "Ritual de lo Habitual". The beauty of the lyrics and power of the music must be experienced for yourself.
Close second:
"Liquidizer" and "Doubt" - Jesus Jones.
"Flaunt It" - Sigue Sigue Sputnik.
"Unomathemba" - Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
"Born" and "Classified" - Bond.
Best ever song:
"Three Days" - Janes' Addiction.
urgh! my chemical romance = emo lame dumb dumb baaaad music!
🙂
i cant pin it down to any one album, but here are a few bands that i listen to...
hatebreed, korn, slipknot, soulfly, meshuggah, manson, Nine inch nails, lamb of god, horrorwood mannequins, cradle of filth, machine head, System of a down, suicide girls, rob zombie.
Los capitanes, casino rumblers, the porkers, area7, zombie ghost train, skatellites, the cat empire
urgh so many more, my brain fizzles.
but my favourite song of all time has to go to...
Tiny Dancer,
Elton John.
Hi
I'm a bit older than some of you, I guessed this because I’ve never heard of bands or albums your talking about.
I love nothing better than listening to the American Graffiti sound track, Green Onions by Booker T and the MGs is one of my best cruising songs.
I’m also into Queen, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Stones, Accadacca and most country music, just love a little Dwight Yoakum on the stereo.
Steve
Steve.. You are going way back there man.. Booker T is soul food.. Love Green Onion's.. Love STAX Vault.. Platters, Sam n Dave, Pickett, Reading etc.. Then onto Motown!!.. God we are blessed by the variety of sound our lives contain.. The future is going to rate the 20thCentury as the richest musical period of all time..
(And I have never heard of these bands either.. doesn't mean I aint prepared to listen.. I'll sample on Limewire)
rob
Madonna - Confessions on a dancefloor.
If you haven't tried it, you must....
no, I'm not joking!
Metallica " kill em all " just a great drive album.
[ Edited on 19-4-2006 by volksrodder ]
I can't name favourite albums very well so i'll do both...
early Metallica
The Aquabats- CHARGE! (Love it!)
Children of Bodom
Arch Enemy
Horrorpops
Necromantix
The Butterfly Effect- Begins Here
The Living End
ACDC

Flogging Molly

THe MC Bat Commander's motto: "Never do now, what you could do for 24 hours straight, all night, the night before."
I just realised something. No one has said Cold Play or Pearl Jam. Why is that?
I really like Chris Martin and own all three albums but I wouldn't rate them up top. Same for Pearl Jam. Curious eh?

Avatar says it all
"Funeral" Arcade Fire
and the best two record combo is:
"Rubber Soul" and "Revolver" by the Beatles I can never seperate those two.
I gotta golf clap the range of taste there........ covers a lot of ground
My Chemical Romance are great!.....
I had no idea what an emo was..... (showing my age)
I thought they were deliberately making melodramatic music..... when I looked up the bands website, I'm seeing a bunch of goth looking sookie la la's............
then my lil brother explains to me what an emo is... pretty wet .... I'll just pretend they're cool and doing it for show
As for Pearl Jam.... I reckon some bands get so flogged, you gotta put em aside till they make a revival.....
like good wine.... a nice drop will age well and taste magnificent in ten years... ordinary wine will still taste pretty ordinary in ten years.....
same goes for hot chilli peppers.... i know blood sugar sex magic like my ring tone!.... but its been shelved cos it was flogged
BTW...FLOGGING MOLLY are great... no pun intended

For all those who said Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, have you synched it up with the Wizard of Oz?
How to Synchronize Pink Floyd and the Wizard of Oz :
1. Buy or rent the movie The Wizard of Oz.
2. Buy or rent the CD of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon.
3. Put the CD in the player and press pause at the beginning of track 1.
4. Put the movie in your VCR and begin to play.
5. Turn off the sound on your television. Turn up the volume on your CD player.
6. When the MGM lion roars for the third time, unpause the CD.
7. If the credit "Produced by Mervyl Leroy" appears onscreen at the transition between "Speak to Me" and "Breathe," then you are correctly synched.
8. Sit back and enjoy!
Tips:
1. Use a CD, not an album. Stopping to flip the album would mess up the synchronicity.
2. Try to think of this as one long, bizarre music video. Don't expect too much and you might be amazed.
3. End the movie after one play-through of the CD. Avoid the "looping" method to replay the CD, as anything after this point is minor and far-fetched.
Synchronicities to look for:
1. When Dorothy runs away from home, the line "No one told you when to run" from the song "Time" is heard.
2. The tornado scene begins just as "The Great Gig in the Sky" starts playing. The song lasts for the entire duration of the storm.
3. The female singer begins moaning, her voice rising and falling in time with the mood of the tornado scene.
4. When "Great Gig" ends, the first side of the album also ends (not valid when using a CD).
5. "Money" begins as Dorothy opens the door and sees Oz. The black and white part of the film ends at this point and begins in color.
6. The lyics "Don't give me that do-goody-good bullsh*t" are heard as Glinda the good witch floats down in her bubble.
7. The dancing ballerinas seem to keep time with the rhythm in "Us and Them."
8. "Brain Damage" becomes the backdrop for the scarecrow scene where he's singing "If I Only Had a Brain."
9. The album ends with a heartbeat, as Dorothy presses her ear to the Tin Man's chest to listen for a heart.
Mick H,
Sputnik have always rocked for me! Still have the orignal vinyl of this.
Love Pearl Jam too, but the best ever driving song has GOT to be:
Jesus built my Hotrod (extended) - Ministry.
Just TRY to drive sensibly while playing this song!
A POSSE AD ESSE.
I live in my own little world, but it's okay, they know me here.
