What is your favourite cd/album of all time and why?

koolkarmakombi · 2006-04-16T01:15:29+00:00

I will start.. My favourite album of all time is Underworld Dubnobassmyheadman. Why? It was so ahead of its time. I love musical journeys. The latest i-poppets with their 50 zillion gig pods will never understand the journey of a whole album. I was partaking of lots of nightlife, was single and heard 'Dark and Long' at an afterparty and bought the cd the next day. The journey still gives me goosebumps and I have to listen to 'cowgirl' really really loud. I am a huge underworld fan but this was their first post electro rock album and it certainly helped change my view of the world. It is a close cass however as The Cure- Disintergation was remixed as 'Mixed up' and is a very close second. who's next? kkk

Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
Talking "ahead of it's time" this album appeared in 1973 and (correct me if I'm wrong) spent 30+ years in the charts!

In the old(ish) days, quadrophonic hifi was the state of the art. Put on Floyd. Turn out the lights. light the J and lie down in the centre of the room with a quad HiFi setup.. Talk about journey!

:o What a way to go.........................😏

lots of good stuff here. so much great music which is even better in its context.

also from the 80's, album journey is the double lp: queen I & II as freddy and the boys change from "white queen" to " black queen"

C'mon kids gather round,
there's a new sensation hitting town,
It's moving straight, low to the ground,
it'll pick you up when your feeling down.

Oh Yes. Alice. You can get anything you like at Alice's Restaurant, (excepting Alice), at Alice's Restaurant.

Jethro Tull and the wonderful flute of Ian Anderson.

The full Yellow Brick Road album.

Damn. Now I'm getting maudlin.
