Well, since she's an auto I have my doubts that the gearbox could cope with a Suby engine... and yeah, she's nice as stock.
.... but this impending delivery might suit a Suby! :P
Yeah, she's nice as she is👍
I was just thinking of a solution to the oil pump problem when you do an engine conversions.

gull had one, apparently you just use the powersteering pump as an oil scavenger and put a cooler on the tranny. something else about an extra gasket on the input shaft or something too.
Right then PBB, time for a suby powered fasty! 😁

uh huh ultra sound child bearing hips this is getting interesting . keeps a eye out for updates .
thinks bugbrained knows the stalk who is delivering this baby 😉
Pete , gull was using a kombi auto not a semi auto. The semi auto requires an external pump to run the system, I was thinking instead of using the power steering pump as an auxillary oil cooling circuit to use it as the main supply pump for the converter.Hence with some possible pressure adjustments you could adapt a subie to a semi auto ( you could even run a cooler on the pressure relief circuit if required). I suspose if you mounted a power steering pump (as a converter pump) on vw engine you could do away with the split pump and could full flow the engine.

yeah, but the new car is a type 3 auto. Same as a kombi auto from what I understand.
I wasn't talking about her new car but about PBB

oh, ok. but you have to admit, the new one could do with a subie too. 👍
Yes, Pete, it could do with a Suby! 😉
See Mackaymanx, told ya!
Told me what ? I didn't deny that she might want to put a subie to her new fastie ( I you bothered to read her first reply to me she said so there ".... but this impending delivery might suit a Suby! "), I have been talk about semi autos all along.

Aww... no need to fight about it! :P
I'd love to have a Suby in my new baby when he arrives, does anyone do the conversion and can let me know what $$$ I'd be looking at if I supplied the motor? 😉
Are you after the whole conversion or just an adapter plate

Well, since I don't know much about it all... want to explain it all to me? :P
wow, you're dead serious about this aren't ya Laura?
...and Robert's ya father's brother...
I can get a Suby engine for a great price so I'd love to know which engine is best to use, any other parts needed, what's involved, cost to have it fitted, who could fit it in Melb, etc...
Christofu, I'm not dead serious about it until I know what it'll cost! LOL :P
Wait till you experience the magic of the type 3 motor, just leave it the way it is .... but lowered.....and maybe hopping. :bounce

Magic of a Type 3 huh? And it will be better to drive than my 'lil Beetle? Hmm... guess we'll have to wait and see! :P
lol i dont think anything could be better then your PBB laura :blush..might come close but nnaahhhh hehe
Type 3's ride like a loungechair on wheels, so comfy, you can cruise in em for hours, my 72 Auto Notch is great. My beetle is being built up to handle like a go kart, enjoy your new car PBB. Cheers, Damo.
This is my Volkswagen, there are many like it, but this one is mine. Without me my Volkswagen is useless, without my Volkswagen, I am useless.

😂 your such a funny guy!
:o you mean, "wait till you experience the outright boredom." Type 3s should have been made with type 4 motors at least. They weigh a tonne so even a sweet TLE 1600 motor makes them feel underpowered.
Go the subie and come into the 20th century, leave aircooled motors for beetles.
👍
Naaaaaaaaahhh....keep it real! 😂 👍
Schmo and 66deluxe know what i am talkin about .
Type 3s rock

I'm sure I won't love it on the drive to the mechanic to get his first check up! :P
So, are the contractions getting closer together? When's the water gonna break? - this week wasn't it?
...and Robert's ya father's brother...
Well, PBB can feel it wants to arrive... but not needing to push yet.
Hopefully can hang on for the couple of weeks until he's due! :P
