G'day all, i have been contemplating installing a Porsche trans into my IRS floorpan instead of using the standard SSP VW trans that i have. I have been looking at the prices of building a tough VW trans with ALbins gearset etc and it seems for the bread that a 915 conversion would be a better way to go, i have found conversion parts that are custom made from
bug@5speed.com and they include new front shifter housing custom gear shifter and rear brace which will allow fitment of a 915 trans into my pan with only a little bit of trimming and the cutting of a hole underneath the pan. My main question is how much have any of you paid for a good 915 trans and has anyone done this conversion themselves. I figure that i already have the Porsche 944T brakes installed (tech article in new edition of VWMA) so why not put in a Porsche trans to be pushed along by a big type 4 engine that i am building. Thanks to anyone for suggestions and advice, Damo.

This is my Volkswagen, there are many like it, but this one is mine. Without me my Volkswagen is useless, without my Volkswagen, I am useless.
