Hey, I should have started a new post, but just scroll to the end if you aren't interested in the progression of my thought, which you probably aren't

Original message:
I am looking for carpets, armrests, the rubber connector that joins the intakes and the air cleaner, and perhaps some rear guards if the price is right. These are the main things I'm after for a 1966 Fastback TS. If anyone nearby has some gear, I'd be very interested to know.

Thanks,
D

Anybody? Help a brother out?

I have parts I can trade? I would have to go check before I make an inventory, but I've got lights, lenses, some engine stuff. Will put up what I've got if anyone is interested...

Thanks
D

Hey D. Love to help out a brother, but I think you want what everyone wants and you've got what everyone's got.
I'm about to make up RHD T3 Carpet kits so stay tuned.
Cheers
Brad

I'm going to have to admit my ignorance, dubb61, and say that I don't know what pop-out means. I am new to the vw racket. It's a 66 fastback.. And I think that's what all of my parts correspond with.. but may have some bug stuff somewhere. It's all the stuff i got with the car.

Brad, thanks for the low down, would like to know more about the carpet when it happens.
I was in contact with a guy named Dallan? in Forrest Lake on the blbvw site, before it closed down the forums, and I lost his contact details. He had LHD carpets.. Would have been goood, even if had to convert them.

Thanks guys
Dan

Oh thanks. That's a negatory on the pop-outs... Just looking a little half-heartedly for the rear guards. Mine has some. They're ok, but the previous owner cut them up a little to put flanges on for wider wheels. Just sussing things out, in case I come up against purists when I try to sell. I called around the places for the carpets (which are what I'm after primarily). Nothing in Brisbane. Probably would find the other stuff though.

Keep us tuned in on the carpets. I know that if I decide the rust can be fixed in mine I will need a set (72 Square)

Was talking to this guy the other day, i think he has just started out but he's charging me $180 for a complete loop pile carpet kit for my notchback and $30 postage to anywhere in aus. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

Volkswagen's not on his list of carpets on his site but i emailed him and he does do them.

Oooh! Thanks everybody. That ausclassics guy does sound reasonable. When do you expect the carpet by? Can you let me know how it is? I've been looking for something el cheapo, mb second hand. I never got carpets with it. But I guess, if it's worth doing... I'll have to accept the price. Oh wait, or I could get templates somehow.
Just finished fitting a new dash pad. Oh, it looks gooood.
Thanks again

Ok, I have to make a decision about what I'm going to do with this car. I guess my primary aim is to sell it (as opposed to undertaking a resto). I think there are two ways I could go about doing that. The first is, get the carpets, fix up a few little things on it, get the rego and sell it, aiming at someone in late adolescence looking for a hip and economical VW. OR I could just sell as is to someone who'd be keen to do a resto.
I might need some help with that decision.

The details of the car: It's a 1966 Fastback TS. I'm the third owner. The one before me owned the car from 1971 to 2003 and is a mechanic and teacher at a tech school. He did a 6 to 12 v conversion on it. Still has original service booklets. Was registered its whole life up to 2004 and was a daily driver. Only reason for coming out of rego was parents concern over car's safety for new driver. Has original paint-- pretty good in most parts but for some minor dings, scratches and very small rust spots. Straight body overall, no prangs. Although, guy before me cut into the rear guards a bit to fit fibreglass flanges for wider wheels. Original trunk and hood liners, and upholstry but for the new dash pad that i just installed and a lack of carpets. Seats are good and intact. Roof lining firm and intact, but some discolouration/staining. I think that's reasonably comprehensive for now...

So, as is, I am thinking of a figure like $2500. If anybody can give me feedback on this, it would be much appreciated. Photos attached:
