I'd love to build a big hotrod with a motor like that. would be the ultimate family cruiser and you could tow a caravan in style. 👍

schmo, i had discounted radials as too big for a beetle but hadn't considered a bus....

i like the way you think.

would you mount the scoop on the roof or fabricate a second and mount one on each side?

i'm having visions a display bus with a 23 window roof (well the sunroof and first 3 side windows), RAAF cab roof windows, poss angle choped as per the hotwheel drag bus with cooling flaps cut in a ring around the body. "cyclone in a bottle"?

any chance one of you photoshop people could mod the roof on this for me?

This is indeed sounding very tempting... would be a great idea for a display bus, however even cooler would be a double-door bay panelvan... the ultimate sleeper!... would look almost totally stock until such time as you open the slider's to allow for cooling 😁

Now hey... why didn't anybody ever think of sliding cowl-flaps before??... would have solved the B-29's overheating (ie catching fire and blowing up off the end of Anderson AFB 😂) issues in a snap... 🤪

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR we could go about it a totally different insano way... and graft the engine nacelle of a DC-7 or P2V into the back of the bus, raise it a few splines, and fit a shortened 4-blade Hamilton-Standard constant-speed bugmasher onto it... not only does it look nuts, it will also do away with the need for a solid titanium clutch, flywheel and transmission! 🤓 :bounce

you could always mount the cyclone east west and run it with a chain drive to a solid axle, as for a clutch... who needs one, just a line lock and water sprays for the rear tires so you could hold it at the traffic lights.

well its a thought.

i think if you had worked at boeing (is that how you spell it) in the 40's the war would have been over months earlier.

while we are modding with vw concepts, imagine the reduction in combat fatigue in bomber command if all the heavies had been fitted with golde ragtops so the crew could kick back and relax on the way home from a hairy raid. (adding one on the bottem would have made bailing out easier too)

sinecure Want another... :(
