Hi all, late last year on my way back from Canada, i had the opportunity to vist Jake Raby and his business Aircooled Technology in Georgia. During my visit i bought a 2270 engine kit form him and we got talking about me becoming a distributor for his parts here in OZ, he agreed and has been thinking about this for a while. I spoke to Jake last week about my kit and he asked if i wanted anything else sent down, So Jake would like to send 6 DTM kits down to me, both type 1 and type 4, if anyone is interested let me know and i will put your name down. Now i won't be paying for these with my money so if i can get 6 people to puchase one each i can get a discount price on them. I don't know how much discount it will be until i can confirm with him that he can send six kits. After this deal if it goes well i will be able to bring more of his parts to distribute and sell. The type 1 kit is just the shroud and utilizes your stock type 1 sealing tin and uses a type 4 oil cooler in place of the little type 1 unit. it is a direct bolt up to the type 1 engine, the type 4 kit comes in for stages of version 1 and there is a version 2 which does not use an oil cooler in the traditional position, these V2 kits are ideal for upright conversion in split and early bay bus conversions. If anyone is interested let me know as my 2270 kit will be ready by in about three weeks. I am not trying to make a buck just want to help my fellow dubbers out, anyway let us know.

Cheers Damo.

Hi Damo,
Count me in for one of the type 4's as well. I expect you will need the external oil cooler for the 2270cc so you don't need internal anymore is that correct? If so, just put me down for the correct one and pm me if you need to confirm anything.

Cheers

I think craig was asking how much for the same kit you have. not how much you would sell yours for

Sorry bout that, i paid $700 US about 2 years ago. Also i will be speaking to Jake tonight and get more details.

I will be leaving for Melbourne this Sat morning and be back Tuesday afternoon so please don't worry if i don't reply over weekend, but i will try and get to a computer.

Yogie i would get the V1 Basic which uses the cooler at the back this will be enough for 2270, and you could also full flow the case so you can add an external cooler if need be.

Hi all, just got back from Melbourne, I spoke to Jake on Friday afternoon and also with Charles from LN Engineering. Jake said he has the kits already on the shelf, i have a total of 5 sales 1xtype1 and 4 type 4 basic kits, Craig do you want one of each still a V1 with the oil cooler duct and a V2 without? if i can get 4 more sold shipping will be way cheaper. As for payment, i will pm you all with my account details and will make the purchase, will get an email from Jake with shipping charges and let you know.

What I want is: 1x Type1 motor kit using the existing cooler (replaced with a type4) and 1x Type4 V1 complete motor Kit (stage 2 like yours) that has the cooler mounted on the back.

Prices for the above please !😁

Hi Michael, i would go with the V2, and you will need to run an external cooler, i will recheck with Jake about the V2 in a bus. As for shipping i will have to send it down to you, as they will all be delivered to me in Brisbane. Craig the prices are what Bond posted $559 US for the type 1 and $689 basic type 4 shipping will be approx. $200 US for each kit sold at the moment may be cheaper.

Hi Damo,

V2 sounds good. What would the overall price be in $A? Did you find out going into a bus and the tinware templates?

cheers

A V1 will fit a bus as long as it has not had an accident in the rear end, the bus tin is not available you would have to fabricate it from existing bus tin, $200 Aus for shipping is what i paid 2 years ago, still $1K cheaper than buying the 911 kit from the business here in OZ, i know cause i bought one didn't fit properly and i paid over $2K for it, thats why i sold it and bought the DTM, Shipping will be roughly what i quoted but may be cheaper if several are purchased customs should not be a problem as i spoke to Charles from LN Engineering who sends his nickies cylinder kits to a melbourne porsche specialist and as long it has mande in the USA it gets through because of our free treade agreement with the US, i can order them under my business name which will help also.
