I think what you're after is a special effects paint, reffered to as 'crackle paint' or 'cracking paint' or variations thereofBone Collector wrote:Thanks guys, but this product will actually do all the hard work and crack / marble the paint as well.
Anyone
Most of the major paint brands have their own crackle paint. Problem is your colour choice will be pretty limited, and you'd want to check how durable the paint would be in terms of being used externally. Also bear in mind the application method will affect the size and pattern of the cracks, so given how big a car is, it might be hard to get a consistent effect, if thats what you're aiming forDirections For Use
The area to be painted must be clean and in sound condition. Best results are achieved over low sheen paint finishes. Semi gloss and gloss finishes must be sanded to a dull finish.
Prime bare metal and timber areas with the appropriate primer.
Apply 1 coat Haymes Low Sheen Acrylic. The colour selected will be the primary colour you will see through the Crackle Medium (cracks).
Apply Designer Finishes Crackle Medium with a brush or roller so that a uniform coat is obtained. Allow 2 hours to dry.
Apply 1 coat Haymes Low Sheen Acrylic paint by brush or roller. The colour should be different to the first colour used. Maxiumum effect is obtained by applying paint gently in a criss-cross pattern. Try not to paint over previously painted surfaces. Allow to dry over night.
Apply a coat of Haymes Simply Woodcare Aqualac Clear Gloss or Satin.
Do not apply if the ambient temperature is less than 10oC or greater than 30oC.
Coverage
Up to 10m2/L depending on surface pourosity and application method.
SIZES
Available in 250ml and 1 litre.
