I won't steal the thunder from Bec and Aaron when the shiny stuff goes on but here is a pic taken around 5 this arvo - finally all one colour, hooray! Always a bit of a milestone for us
🙂
looking good, will you have it done by warwick
BEING ASPIRATED FEELS GREAT BUT BEING BLOWN TAKES THING TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL....
Can't answer for Aaron and Bec re. reassembly....but my part will hopefully be done by the end of next week (or the week after at very latest).
hi

Yepeee my car looks fantastic. My dreams are coming true , thanks al. Yes im very stoked. I chose the colour 4 years ago, its 1970s mercedes and as for warwick we don't know yet, we are going to keep going with her (clarabel) and see what happens. fingers crossed.😵
Glad to hear you are stoked Bec, I'm doing all I can to push it through as promptly as I can. 14 hour days is the best I can manage at the moment (better than the 20 hour plus days last year leading up to warwick getting the rad bug and the oval ready!).....will shoot through some more pics as progress continues!
Al
PS the paint should come up very nicely after the colour sanding process, its pretty nice off the gun but it will make a world of difference.
hey bec, looks good now with some colour, just need to piece it all back together again and what a fun job that is, dont scratch the paint while doing it!!!
BEING ASPIRATED FEELS GREAT BUT BEING BLOWN TAKES THING TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL....
Good to see you painted it a "fast" colour.....

Busy weekend for Bec and Aaron....I'll let you guys update your progress.
Things are progressing well with the colour sanding process, very labour intensive but well worth the effort.

Aaron doesn't sleep.
WOW Das!! I cannot believe the clarity of reflections you get in your paint jobs!! Simply unbelieveable. Brilliant work. I have read many of your build up threads and I think Bec and Aaron are very fortunate to have you doing their body and paint work.
Can't wait to see this thing complete again....should be a knockout!!
im predicting fastest Type 3 at Warwick.... and or pretty high up in the all motor.
You are right Colonel, Aaron is a man on a mission!
Cheers Scarab, Bec's squareback will be a great looking car once done....and will certainly have the go to match the show!
colonel mustard wrote:im predicting fastest Type 3 at Warwick.... and or pretty high up in the all motor.
Has a nice big turbo (well not big compared to Aaron's) in its rear though.
Don't let Troy (typeIIIking) read your prediction though (fastest type III at warwick)....them's fighting words!
🙂

Well Bec we'll have to wait and see what Troy has to say about that one LOL Maybe not all motor hehehehe
He can't comment as he is on Fraser Island for the next 2-3 days lol

hi, just to let you know its troy thats on fraser not aaron.
I will be in the vw bodied other engine class at warwick so i wont be up aganist troy. but i think its going to be great fun giving drag racing a go and to add another type 3.
😊
hi punks,
well first thing i must say is yes we are fortunate to have alan do our car. We went down to Das resto haus on the weekend we fitted engine and gearbox, fuel and oil lines, pumps, manifolds, turbo, wiring, rear frame, dash and instruments. thanks al for letting us in your workshop, its been a great help.
i got to see my car in colour for the first time, looks fantastic so happy. Now she is called sexy clarabel
I stopped down to DAS Resto Haus today to see it for myself, amazing paint work..! Can't wait to see it finished. ( if it stands still long enough)
Yepee my car is home, aaron spent a whole day on it today, got it going, runs well but needs a total tune (next week) backed out of garage and back in. Exhaust , water pipes, pump, radiator, oil cooler lines, drive shafts, cv's and some wiring all done.
with the stall converter , no extra rpm was acheived 👎
Tomorrow windscreen man coming over. We will start on window mech, door locks and rubbers, thermo fans and intercooler. busy busy little bees we shalll be.
awesome! can't wait to see it 🙂
Quick up date, bec and I worked flatout all day today. we had a few set backs, as usual when theres a dead line. But we fitted 2 spal 12'' thermos, barrel cooler (with out water), electric water pump, door windows and stuf.
We bled the cooling system then I got to drive it around the block (no windows front or rear guards or deck lid). feels really good, taking note of tranny, converter turbo and brakes.
We should have all the guards and windows in sun-mon, but don't konw if i have time to get it to the dyno because i'm still doing 12hr days.
It might be another street tune with darter logging.
Neeeed sleeeep!
I'm know i'm not the only one..
