I have just been given a complete 1300 (AB) Dual Port Type 1 Motor.

I currently have a brand new new set of standard 1600 Barrels and Pistons.

Will these Barrels and Pistons bolt straight on to the 1300 motor, or do I have to modify the heads?

Cheers

Does the 1300 go??

All the 1300 DP's i have driven go as good if not better than a 1600

Been told it is to do with the small valves and velocity at the valves

I wouldnt be touching it if it is in good condition

Apparently it does run.

I have a 1967 Beetle with a tired 1600 Single Port in it. (This is the original case with 1600 Barrels, Pistons and Single Port heads on it.)

Since I got this Dual Port 1300, I thought about giving the 'old girl' a heart transplant and doing the 1600 thing with it??

Id put the barrels on, an extra 300 is a good increase and use the TP heads.

Barrel size is different. 1300 tp heads will need to be machined to fit 1600 barrels.

Everything else is the same except barrels and heads (& sometimes, pre-heat tubes). This makes 1300 tp cases good candidates for rebuild as they haven't had to work hard. They have the strength of a 1600 but have only done the work of a 1300.

Stick with the 1300 twin port if you can.

Regards,

Matt.
