I have to channge the timing belt on a 1997 toyota camry, ive posted on camry forums but got poor answers. I was wondering if anyone could give me a hand in what i have to do and the easiest way to do it.

Sorry Josh, can't help with the belt but, ' top marks ' for the post! Very easy to read and understand - keep up the good work.

I'm not having a shot at you, I'm ' fair dinkum'.

Cheers, Greg

V6 or 4 banger?

I did a V6 not long ago. Shit of a job.

Done it 6 times to 3 5sfe's and 1 3sfe, and 1 3sge and my proto-type 5sge. all use the same S-block in the 4 banger series. Just different head/top end configurations.

What questions you got :P??

Its a six cylinder 3 litre.

Well for starters what should i be removing to get at the covers, i can get the top cover off and thats it. I need to get to the bottom one.

Also ive beed told they have hydraulic tensioners, is this the same type as the one in joels subi. Here http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=77027&page=13

Thats it for now and thanks for the help.

Keep checking back because i will have more questions.

Listen to Ian, he is a servicing expert. Might be a bit big of a job to tackle, especially if you haven't had much mechanical experience before.
