I realise that this should really be in the events area and it's been posted before but the organisers and I thought a reminder wouldn't hurt and I think more people will see it here!
As many of you would be aware this year marks the fiftieth anniversary of volkswagen in australia.
This is your chance to celebrate that in a way that you will never forget and also to see some of the most spectacular scenery in aus.
On nov. 8th to the 14th the volkswagen assoc. of tas will be conducting the Shannons National Cavalcade of Volkswagens.

The itinery is basically as follows;

Sat 8th nov.
Arrive in tas aboard Spirit if Tas.
Depart Devonport to travel via Deloraine, Westbury, Hagley, Longford, Launceston, Campbell Town, Ross, Oatlands, Campania, to Richmond then on to Hobart.
There will be a welcome BBQ that evening.

Sunday 9th nov.
Show and Shine, Princess wharf in hobart.

Monday 10th nov.
Day trip to Tahune forest "Airwalk" Return via winery and Longley Targa stage.

Tuesday 11th nov.
Depart Hobart to Queenstown. Truely a spectacular drive!! Overnight in Queenstown.

Wednesday 12th nov.
ABT scenic wilderness railway or Gordon river cruise. Travel to Strahan

Thursday 13th nov.
Depart Strahan to cradle mountain
Overnight at Cradle mountain

Friday 14th nov.
Depart Cradle montain for Devonport via scenic drive. 9pm departure on Spirit for mainland.

Remember that your car travels free on the Spirit of Tasmania.
I have seen first hand how much work has gone into ensuring that this event is a success, so you are assured of having a great holiday. I mean where else can you spend a week touring a beautiful island with a whole group of dub nuts in their dubs? Anyone interested can recieve further info and reg. forms from;
pandpcurran@ozemail.com.au
Hope to see lots of you in Tassie!!🙂

There are lots of people going from what I can gather from talk, or at least from Vic.

It'll be worth registering yourself in if you can manage the time off:thumb

There are a few people only doing the three days so they can get back too work

This was what I hoped. Letters have been sent to most clubs but not everyone is in a club! It looks like being a great event, Shannons, Tas gov, City motors VW and volkswagen australia and others I've forgotten have come on board. There will even be a car transporter following the cavalcade in case of breakdowns for the trip south! Not that vws break down of course!! VW Aus will be leading the cavalcade with a New Beetle cabriolet.
Can't wait!! 😘kiss

Jay try contacting your local travel agent as they all deal with the Spirit of Tamania. volma. For those North Islanders with doubts about their vws making it to Tas, I travelled to Sydney this Easter to the Nationals and Bug-In in a 36 hp 6v 1960 kombi along with Peter and Pat in their 36hp 1960 beetle with each car doing over 3000 ks with no problems. volma
They are still there, just have faith you'll find one.

Won't go on principle, seeing as how Shannons wouldn't insure my Kombi so I will have to wait for the Golden Jubilee in Sydney......
Keeping it real !

Jers don't you sleep. Find it difficult that Shannons won't insure a vw of any type. Try Brett Pitfield on 1300139006 or mob 0419289301 at Shannons in Hobart or Matt Brinsden in Melb. Shannons for insurance. volma

Hey Lugnuts the fare over is as cheap as chips. $105 each way incl your car, cheaper than driving to Valla from Sydney and better scenery.volma

Go here for the Tassie Ferry costs

http://www.spiritoftasmania.com.au/fares/melb_dev.htm

You can even book online to make it easy
:thumb

If you think the costs are high for accommodsation go here and use Youth Hostels and still be near the action

http://www.yha.com.au/hostels/search/state.cfm?stateid=5

Well it was worth a plug:thumb

I'm sure there are camping grounds etc

After being at Valla it is well worth staying were most others are though, much more fun🙂

Remember to say you are with the VW group as they are going to have the cars together so they can drive off the boat together, so it is probably better if you ring rather than book online.
