Is the vehicle registered or going to be because there is a few new changes coming near the end of the year regarding engineer certificates etc Engineering signitories and the whole process. Essentially engineers certificates will become void after a certain date and a new method called VSCCS (Vehicle Safety and Compliance Certification Scheme) will come into effect where once it is signed off by the engineer the rta will be notified and then you will have 21 days (i think) to present the car for a blue slip and adjustment of records done.
So if you have a engineers certificate currently but havent notified the rta of it or had an adjustment of records done i suggest you do because after a certain date they will no longer be recognised.

question?
if you do a whole lot of modification, welding, fabrication etc.. and do it all your self. you just take it to an engineer for a check over and certificate?
or does everything need to be done by a engineer including welding?

i suggest talking to the engineer before starting mods as there may be things they want you to do when doing it.
then you can just go back and get them to sign off on it

Yeah I was told by people I know that every thing need to be welded and designed by engineer. I didn't believe it as I see nearly all moded cars were done by the owners.
So is it true you can DIY? thats the main thing I just want to clarify.

that depends on your standard of welding doesn’t it.
