can you use 6 volt wipers when converted to 12 volt electrics without burning them out

You can fit a resistor to reduce the voltage.
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

probably for a little while. lol would go as fast as modern car wipers do.

You probably would burn them out after a while...
You can buy resistors made for the wiper motors.
or just use the white resistors they use on old car coils
[old fords etc] heaps at the wreckers..

Hi
actually You can use two of those.....
one for fast... two in series for slower speed...

or You can use a 1968 beetle two speed 12v wipers..
with proper blades... 1968 ONLY...

Theres an old bloke around here that used to convert 6 volt bugs back in the day using the old 2nd alternator hanging off the original 6 volt gen 😂

He used to use a pair of coil ballast resistors in series on the wiper motor to slow them back down.

running on 12volts they are lucky to touch the glass

better off adapting a later 12 volt 2 speed motor

Lee, all 1500 bugs 68 to early 71 had the same wiper motor, oh and those stupid arms that had grubscrews that slip

Connect a 5Ω 50W Resistor in series with the viper motor - 4Ω, if you want a bit extra oomph.

The 50 Watt Resistors have a HeatSink with x2 mounting screw holes - best to scratch a bit of paint off the adjacent bodywork and screw the resistor over that area. You should use heatsink compound between - but it is a health hazard - a smear of Vaso will stop rust from developing on the scratched area.

If WES Components (Ashfield - Sydney) don't have them, they will tell you where you can get them.
