Hi its Todd i belive, Ive been folowing the bus thread clyde in the states is doing to the t25 hes come up with a souloution for the shifting but hes got it where 5th is meant to be 1st gear is there from what i understand and you have got it right in the sharp built buggy cant you just some how use the bug shifter and rod back to the subie box i own a splitty and was considering you conversion but i dont want to have the wrong shifter patern can you please advise . Angelottriebler wrote:No dramas. I don't do the mounts, I want to focus on doing the tricky stuff and let shops or home mechanics do stuff like mounts - hence I have published the plans and measurements of the type 1 mounts. I've not done a fastback one yet so these would have to be developed.
Be a good idea to purchase a front cut, that way you get everything you need. Just don't buy one with a hi/lo dual range gearbox as these can't be reversed.

Thanks for the reply Birdman i know it works in the t1 i saw the sharpbuilt buggy in action but i got a t2 and need to know if any one has done this conversion with the same results as the t1 with the shifter assembly cheers Angelo.Birdman wrote:Hi Barnbro,
I don't know how the shifter works in a slit bus but there are no problems in a beetle install. If you connect the shift rod direct to the gear box all the gears are in the right place. Hope the info helps your install

thanks for your reply im a bit far off for the motor and box at the moment but as soon as ive got the body done i will be giving you a call to sort out how best we can attack the transplant cheers angelo.😎ttriebler wrote:Hi Angelo, nobody has finished this conversion in a bus yet and the first one to be finished is a cable shift version. The key to getting it to work in a bus is using the type 1 ball and socket arrangement that they have with their shifter/shift rod. This reverses the action of the vw shift rod and makes everything shift beautifully.
I would be happy to take a look at this with your t2 with you if you are in Sydney so you know you have a bolt in conversion before you commit to the funds for a subie box.
