gday folks.... I have a 72 twin port 1600 beetle that has a new carby 34pic-3 and a 009 dizzy how do i set this up as there are no timming marks on the pully...does the condenser have to go at the front...does the motor on TDC mean that the rotor arm has to be on or about 1
does it fire 1342 does the craby need tunning as it is straight out the box? does the 009 wire go to the -ve on the coil basicly give me you wisdome to let the girl run again.cheers

Mate, best you get a copy of "How to keep your vw alive for the complete idiot" its a great book, explains all you want to know and more, some folks call it their bible. Timing is 1432 the timing mark is a small notch on a crank pulley, distributor wire goes to the negative side of the coil, get the book cheers & good luck Frank

the timing order is 1432 for air cooled VWs...
there is a mark on the rim of the distributor [cap off] where the rotor should be pointing for number 1 cylinder...
and roughly at the timing mark at the top of the pulley..
the condensor goes on the back of the 009...
condensor to -- NEGATIVE on coil... + to power on coil..

there WILL be a timing mark or two on Your VW Pulley on the inner edge of the pulley...
1st one 7 1/2 degrees BTDC
2nd groove is TDC.. clockwise >
[alloy pulley with timing degrees is easier]
