I did not delete the posts but I know what happened.

The posts in question where in the for sale section and got deleted as they did not have the details in them that was req'd ie prices.

I have put them into the Business Section and sent an email explaining that the rules state a price need to be added.

I think that main issue was that there was quite a few posts and none of them had prices ....

There will shortly be a few changes, one of which will be the New Products section where sponsors can post new product lines without prices and all this should be cleared up.

For now just add prices ..... :o

Brad
I know it wasn't you who deleted it last night.

It was in General Chit Chat because thats what it was.
As I recall it said "the polished bumpers arrived on Friday and I had chance to get them on today" then I added the above photos.

It did not say anything about selling them?? therefore would not need a price adding

Maybe its something to do with the person deleting may have close ties to another shop??
A moderater has sent me a U2U saying there was a complaint, can you view the complaint if there was one.

Dont ask ClassicVW(pacific) to sponsor the forum next time round if there is going to be selective censorship.nn[ Edited on 13-9-2005 by ClassicVW(pacific) ]

Maybe you should drop the prices on those rims Roy, maybe $600 a set? What a crock, I've seen other posts on here that didn't meet the criteria and they were given a warning on what would happen if not rectified. How about one rule for all and not one rule for some? Lets get our shit together, we all want the same things don't we? :kiss

I see two different reported posts against the original post, so it didn't come out of nowhere. I think I know who did the moderation.

I've asked all our moderators to ALWAYS notify people of thread or post deletions, and to give people time to change their posts before deletion - and not to just delete them.

I don't think the moderator was acting out of a conflict of interest, he was simply following the pre-existing moderator guidelines for non-compliant posts. We had a lot of problems where people were not following the Trade Practices Act and local state Fair trading laws, which is why we forced the price (including any applicable GST) to be put in. This rule has been standing for a long, long time. It's too hard to work out if you're eligible or not, so it's simpler to state that everyone must do this than to make exceptions on a case by case basis.

thanks,
Andrew

maybe its time to delete some of the moderators.
if they were doing a fair dinkum job they would get rid of all the non vw ads. the pre august 2002 forum was far better run.

Roy, I moved your for sale adds to the suspended section as you don't put the prices on your posts. I did not delete any other post from you or anyone else.
The posts have been returned to the section for you to ad prices, if not they will be deleted.

Yes rest assured whenever I edit, move or delete any posts I will always notify the person via U2U.

I'm not whinging, but just remember that being a moderator is a no-win situation. People will complain that something is posted, then others will complain when it edited/deleted/removed. We try to be fair to everyone and maintain the same standards across the board but you can't please all the people all the time :onn[ Edited on 13-9-2005 by Dasdubber ]

I agree with Stealth and Alan, and I back Stealth's movement of the posts to the suspended section as it absolutely compliant with our long standing rules on the matter. We will continue requiring prices in most sections, particularly from businesses.

Roy, I will call you tomorrow to explain further. I tried ringing around 6.30 pm, but your line was engaged.

thanks,
Andrew

Roy get off the phone!!

Shirley you know by now to add prices in the for sales on here...

OK I'm outta here ... chill and take responsibility and don't winge too much... as far as I'm concerned this forum gives you the most exposure you could possibly get for a VW retail business here in OZ .... if people aren't here for tech help...networking or event info...or sharing a passion...they are here to source parts for their projects....or pick up a new project... which means more parts...and on it goes

OK I'm outta here......

I rarely delete.... but live in fear of deletion at times

The world has gone deletion crazy.

How can the last post that was moved be deemed to be a business advert. I was merely showing off my new purchase like 99% of people on here

Anyway whats wrong with the old fashioned method of ringing for a price and dont quote section 12 to 14b of the fair trade act of 1985
If I want something I ring for the price, that way I know what I am getting and know the price is for exactly what I want.
There are 1000's of prices in my system, I am not gonna spend all night putting them on here just to have it deleted 5 minutes later because I used the wrong phrase.

So Roy if they were not for sale and in the for sale section then fine .... was the pic in Members Rides or here in General Chat? Where you showing off a buy you made for yourself? I didn't see them...

I for one don't like chasing prices on the phone, u2u or via email...I personally like prices to be out in the open if something is for sale...

Add the word negotiable if you are ... but a price is needed here whether we like it or not .... maybe we need to make our terms and conditions of selling stand out a bit more cleary...or that people can't proceed to post a for sale without clicking an agreement to the terms and conditions of selling on the forum (these are my thoughts not the forum's)

I search for prices on products in a system daily it's not that hard

By the way it is a very nice bumper and a sweet looking splittie

I searched for "Kombi Club" in all forums over the last month, and found at least three events... all in general chit chat (wrong forum - they should be in the Clubs / events forum).

Are you sure they're going missing, or are they just falling off the first page of General Chit Chat, or falling off the search page as it only searches for a week by default?

Roy (and this goes for all clubs, too), best bet is to e-mail me, vw54 or Jay with your calendar of events, and we'll make sure they're in the events calendar both in the limited posting events forum (reduces noise and maximizes ease of being found), as well as on the front page of the site.

Our forum is not really designed to take 1000's of items for sale in an automatic fashion. We created those sections so people could buy, sell, trade and swap for things they might have lying around their garage without paying any fees, not to be eBay.

As we provide the existing sections as a free service, our rules, which we have had for some considerable time, specify that all listings have listed prices, which must include GST when it is required to be paid.

We do this for several reasons:

a) to make sure all sellers are on an equal footing
b) to comply with various laws which apply to the sale of some types of items, particularly the sale of whole cars by commercial sellers
c) It is too hard for us to determine who has to provide a price, and who may optionally supply it.
d) I believe most of our members like having the prices easily available

Therefore we decided a long time ago to require the listing of a price on all items which are sold.

There are no items on eBay without a price. There are no items in the Trading Post without a price. The same goes here - as this is how we run the place. All listings in our existing Buying and Selling sections need to comply with the rules, which are at the top of each page in that section.

As part of our forthcoming sponsorship changes coming very soon (just after we move servers, actually), as Brad mentioned before there will be additional flexibility coming for sponsors, but until then, our free listing services are there for people and businesses to use as long as they follow the rules.

Andrew
