They are a cool bit of kit Dave

When do you hit the dyno?
I know you have a bunch of other stuff being modified (fabricated) also

I've only just come across this thread as I've only seen snippets of what you have been up to when I drop by or on facebook... And holy hell this is badass!

I'm all for doing it yourself but this is on a whole new level, thinking I might come to the Jambo just to see how you and a few other go 😎

Great stuff Dave I'm in awe with your work!

I made the barrels .025" longer to (later) fit my new crank and rod combo.
This dropped the compression down to 12.8 from the previous 14:1.

Even with the lower comp, it still made over 250hp at the wheels, at 8000rpm.

Unfortunately the added weight of the barrels and intake may slow it down a bit,
but 'leak-down' after the dyno and Jamboree, is less than 2.5% on all cylinders.

Jamboree was fun as usual, with Volksies competing again in numbers not seen since the mid nineties!

My car was quite slow, which at the time had me a bit puzzled,
but I tinkered away with it and made improvements most runs.

The weight with driver is now 1840.4lbs...about 835kg. 🤪

Runs were:

First run left the line crooked and had to lift for a moment:
11.471 at 117.74 slow lean 🙁
11.268 at 118.84 better but still slow. 🙁
11.202 at 120.88 bit better after more richening.
11.248 at 121.18 better mph up high with mixture adjustment(that's about 8000rpm)
11.256 at 119.86 dropped a bit more speed after further richening the 'high speed'.

Was leaving the line at 8400rpm, and the rpm logs show the clutch and tyres pulling the rpm WAY down,
which is another sign of lean mixture.

Sixy's were slower than normal but representative of the lower power and higher mass.

1.550

Reaction were all cherrys except a lucky .001 in the first round.
Lets call it 'testing the tree'.
I will blame the awesome traction, and rusty driver(10months!)

Lower power was found to be
a clogged fuel filter in after race maintenance. 🙅

Yes, matt.
It was cleaned before the dyno but not before this event.
Was only flowing enough to make 255hp(surprisingly!)

Doing an 1/8 mile trans again for Warwick this year.
4.857 diff with 1.333 ratio 4th gear.
100mph is 8370rpm.
Best previous speed at the high altitude was 99.78mph,
but carrying a little more weight (55lbs!) this year.

Best speed of 98.97 and weight of 1840lbs
equates to 2hp better than ever before,
even at higher 450m altitude, and lower 12.8 comp ratio!

Plenty of cherries there, but in the end, it was a .008 break out that gave me the runner up.
