I have a tale of woe to tell, it not pretty, there will be swearing, lots of swearing! :cussing

I booked a fairly simple door to door car transport of my squareback. Two weeks ago.
When I spoke to the guy/company concearned I was told it was easily done, they didnt even mind that there would be a spare engine in the back of the car. Sweet.

Then the bullshit started.......

It was arranged that the car would be picked up, on the evening of the 4th Nov, after 6:30 in the evening, as the previos owner wanted to see it safely away.

The driver/s turned up in the morning, while no one was there. Rang the previous owner and asked what was going on. They were told that it was an evening pickup, so they collected the engine, seperately and buggered off.

I phoned the next day. Was told that they had stuffed up the time. I never found out why they couldnt have gone back at the time they were supposed to and pick up the car. I was told the car would be with me for Saturday.

I asked them to pick up the car on the friday instead, heard nothing. Car wasnt picked up.

Nobody answered the phone all weekend! And basicall I lost an entire weekends work due to this bunch of arseholes, and they knew I had to take time off because I told them that.

Monday came around and I expected the car to be collected, nope, nothing, not a phone call, no pickup, jack shit.

I phoned again tuesday. Was told this time that they couldnt do it for various reasons, none that made any sense to me of course. I was told the car would be collected on Wednesday, the next day. I told them that they had cost me in the region of $300 for a wasted weekends work, they didnt seem to care. I was told that I was lucky that they got the engine seperatly because one man wouldnt have been able to do it on his own and it was my fault that the car wasnt picked up! I told them, if you have turned up at the right time, the engine would have been in the car and there would be no lifting involved! Again, more bullshit excuses followed.

Wednesday came and went, so did Thursday morning. I phoned in between and get more bullshit excuses and the usual promises again. I was told the car would be picked up Friday and I would have the car on Saturday afternoon, today. I told the guy that this was the last chance to pick it up, otherwise they would be losing the job!

Well, my melbourne contact receieved a phone call at 6 in the morning saying that the car would be picked up today. Well at long last it was!

Today I have once again sat around all day waiting for the car to arrive. Nothing. It got to 4pm, I phoned the guy. Oh he said 'The driver doesnt have enough time left on his card to drop it around today.
What I say, why did you tell me it would be today then I said. Once again got nothing but bullshit excuses and apoligies.

So I said, 'tomorrow morning?', No, I was told. Late afternoon. Why I asked. Same excuse about the driver. I asked, you dont have anyone else who can do it? No, not on a sunday I was told.

Then he tried to tell me that I actually had asked for a Sunday delivery!! By this time I was fuming, I let fly with a few choice words and told him I was 'really fucked off with all this shit.' This seemed to catch his attention and now I have to phone him at 10am tomorrow to find out what he can arrange! Notice Im having to chase him again, not once has this prick called to give me an update, not once!

Cant wait to see what the excuse is going to be tomorrow!!

Ive a right mind to give him half the money and tell him to think himself lucky he got that!

I will keep you informed, Im very prepared to post the name of this company as I dont want anyone else to be mess around like me and Steve have been.

They are based in Brisabane and are very ironically called 'Speedy'

Dont use em, get a proper company to do the job!

Sorry this is such an epic, I am soooo angry at the moment!

when it comes to paying them, give them some of the money the money, since they only took the spare motor to start with, then tell them that you will pay them tomorrow, but don't.
They strung you out a week to get your car, so only fair that they wait for their money.
Get someone to take their calls for you and on reply to every second one.
Then after a week or so, pay them the rest of the money if you think they seserve it.

I had a similar thing mate with Far north car carriers.
My car ended up near cairns.
That wouldn't have been bad if i lived in that general direction. But i live in Newcastle.
When i rang them to find out where it was they couldn't tell me where it was. they couldn't reach the driver.
It went missing for close on a week.

that shouldn't happen. Seriously if i was the guy in charge or a manager or whatever in that company I'd start thinking that something was wrong when that sort of thing happens...

Trouble is they will want the cash when the turn up with the car.

If they have caused me this much grief, do I actually have any rights about not paying the full amount?

I would love to just give them half and tell them to get stuffed, but I dont want to start any trouble that is going to get me in the shit.

speak to you local ombudsman (i think) or try small claims court or something similar.

There has to be a regulatory union for these people out there.

Ring a compeditor and ask them who to speak to, they will dish the dirt rather quickly.

get his rego number and report him driving erratic and veering of the road to the dept of transport. They will go and run a log book check on his arse. Then a week later report him to the machinery dept for excess smoke and overloading. They will crawl up his arse with a fine tooth comb and pull him off the road till inspected. That will cost him some time and money. Or just let it go through to the keeper and let karma take care of his arse.🙂

Pay him and get your car first. On Monday call the dept of fair trading and find out what you can do then. I had a car delivered last week by Campbell Car Carriers. Showed up on time and cheap. Good company (from Adelaide though).

I have the same problem with tradesmen on my house. the only decent one so far is the electrician. all the builders and plumbers have been bastards to deal with.

I give everyone two chances, if they stuff me around twice I tell them to piss off and try someone else. I leave two phone messages and if they still dont phone me back I find someone else.
If it aint broke,

Gibbo,

Cant believe they want to charge you more for their stuff ups! You should be getting a huge discount for the inconvenience they caused you and I!

As I told you previously, had a similar experience from another company where I took a day off from work waiting for a car to be picked up and they didnt show, and no so much as a phone call. They broke about 5 subsequent promises to me and when I questioned wether they would ever pick the car up they exploded and told me where to go! From my experience they are sensitive little buggers who couldnt organise a root in a brothel! I'm sure there are many good ones out there though..just got to find one!

Hope you get the beast today mate, and let me know when it arrives etc.

Steve

Yeah, I know, stoopid me for trying to save a few bucks.

I just hope they have a proper receipt to give me when it arrives.

I wont be handing over 600 without a receipt! Not after all this trouble.

I will be video taping the whole delivery just in case anything happens.

I just dont trust these bastards!

I think your being a bit Harsh, his Transport Company doesn't revolve around your life Style.

The Driver needs Weekends off to spend time with his Family, and if he keeps working after he has clocked up his hours in the Logbook he faces huge fines and could be held personally liable for any accidents he has.

Your joking aren't you ? cause if you are i'm laughing but

If not....mate it's called customer relations. If you promise to do something do it...if not let the customer know.
At the end of the day, after all the shit, I bet they will still hold there hand out.

Flying VW with all due respect, are you having a f**kin laugh!?! 😉

Im my book, if I get told the car will be there on a particular day, I expect it to be there. Unless there is a very good reason for it, then I expect to be told by them. Not have to phone up and find out myself, like the man said 'Customer Relations'
I wouldnt be half as pissed off as I am if I had received phone calls giving me an update!

Anyway, no offence but its been two weeks of pure shite.

Steve, You will find a nice surprise in your bank account when I get paid, Im buying you a slab of beer!

So.... It got to 15:50 (3:50pm) and still no car.

Phoned 'Tommy', who prompty said 'Oh Ive been trying to call you, you must have about 10 missed calls on your phone....'
<Looks at phone> Nope, its been with me in the house all day and no calls.

Well I been trying to call.....

cough (Bullshit) cough......

Then he asks if I am at home, Yes I say, you know I am, Im expecting a car to be delivered!

Oh, ok, well we be right round.

<Waits 45 mins>

Car turns up at last, but I a little suspect of some of the damaged paintwork, looks like they let the spare engine rub up against the rear drivers side for a while!

Anyway, I have it. Took it for a spin up and down the road with a huge smile on my face, it started first time.

Not to get it rego'ed and ready for the Dubs by the Pub run. Should be cool!

Thanks all for the support!!!

Flying vw after driving interstate for many years myself what are log books a piece of paper you hand on to the d.o.t. for what you have no idea. I do agree with you that you are liable but everyone in there right mind knows that log books are nothing. If you saw my log book you would shake your head in disbeliefe and not once was i ever questioned about it. If you say that the goods will be there on x date and time and it is not you the company will be fined ie. not get payed for the load. Gibbo if it was me I wouldn't of payed them I would of taken the car for a drive driven it in my yard and left it there behind gates. They dont own the vehicle and are only responsible from the pick up address to the delivery address thats it. That way you have the car and they have to chase you for the money. It is a civil matter and the police would not be involved. Then when it went to court you could say about lost wages and damage incurred. Reason I know it happen to me I lost $900 in a load that had the wrong info on it went to x address and no one there had to take it somewhere else thus ran late never got payed and thats the game of interstate. The problem is not the drivers but the companies taking the jobs. Gibbo I hope you never payed them and if you did you can lodge a formal complaint with the T.W.U. who are cracking down about dodgy operators ask for David Prior or Hughie Williams they will have a talk and follow it up. Hope this has helped you out.
Graham.
